View completed tasks in Todoist


Todoist stores completed tasks, so you can easily search and manage all your completed work. You can view completed tasks in projects, the Today view, the Upcoming view, and Reporting. Use them to reflect on the progress you're making and celebrate the goals you've achieved.

View completed tasks inside projects

View all of the project's tasks that have been completed and removed from the active task list:

  1. Click the project.
  2. Click Display at the top-right.
  3. Turn on Completed tasks.

Your completed tasks will appear at the bottom of a section's or parent task's active task list.

  1. Tap the project.
  2. Tap the display icon at the top-right.
  3. Toggle Completed Tasks on.

Restore or delete completed tasks in a project

To restore completed tasks in a project, turn on Completed tasks and uncomplete these tasks. They'll be added back to your task list. Learn more about uncompleting tasks.

To delete completed tasks, select them in bulk. Then, delete the tasks.

View completed tasks in the Today view

See how much progress you've made today by reviewing all your completed tasks in the Today view.

On the Beginner plan, turn on Experimental features first.

  1. Click the Today view.
  2. Click Display at the top-right.
  3. Turn on Completed tasks.

Your completed tasks will appear at the bottom of the task list. If you're using the calendar layout, they'll appear in the All day section at the top.

View completed tasks in the Upcoming view

Celebrate all that you've accomplished in a week or month. Here's how to see all your completed tasks in the Upcoming view.

On the Beginner plan, turn on Experimental features first.

  1. Click the Upcoming view.
  2. Click Display at the top-right.
  3. Turn on Completed tasks.

Your completed tasks will appear at the bottom of the task list. If you're using the calendar layout, they'll appear in the All day section at the top.

View completed recurring tasks

When you complete a recurring task, it moves to its next date. With Completed tasks turned on, each completed recurring task still shows up in:

  • The Today and Upcoming views, in any layout
  • Projects, in the calendar layout only
  • Filters and labels, in the calendar layout on web only

If you click or tap a completed recurring task, Todoist opens the current task. You can't uncomplete a completed recurring task.

Note

On the Beginner plan, turn on Experimental features to see completed recurring tasks in the Today and Upcoming views. Android doesn't show completed recurring tasks yet. On iOS, update Todoist to the latest version.

View completed tasks in Reporting

In Reporting, you'll be able to view your completed tasks (including recurring tasks) from all projects. However, you can't edit or uncomplete tasks displayed in Reporting. This can only be done inside projects.

On the Beginner plan, Reporting shows up to seven days of history. To see your full activity history, upgrade to a paid plan.

  1. Click your avatar on the top-left.
  2. Select Reporting.
  3. Click All actions.
  4. Select Completed tasks.

  2. Tap your avatar at the top-left.
  3. Tap your name. You'll see the full list of completed tasks of all your Todoist projects.

  3. Tap your name. You'll see the full list of completed tasks of all your Todoist projects.

A recurring task is one task with a shifting date, not multiple separate tasks. When you complete it, it moves to its next date and is logged in Reporting. You can also see completed recurring tasks in the Today view, the Upcoming view, and a project's calendar layout.

View completed sub-tasks in the task view

You can quickly see all of your completed sub-tasks by opening the task view of the parent task. Here's how:

Click a parent task to see the details in the task view. If there are any completed sub-tasks, you'll see them under Sub-tasks.

  1. Tap a task to open task view.
  2. Tap the three dots icon at the top-right.
  3. Tap Show Completed Sub-tasks.

Tap a task to open the task view. If there are any completed sub-tasks, they'll appear in the Sub-tasks view below.

Note

You can't write a filter query that includes completed tasks.
