Todoist for watchOS gives you full control of Todoist right from your Apple Watch. You can add new tasks, check and complete your tasks, set custom complications and more.

Set up Todoist for watchOS

To get started, install Todoist on the Apple Watch:

  1. Check that Todoist is installed on the iOS device.
  2. Open the Watch app on the iOS device.
  3. Tap My Watch at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Scroll down to Available Apps.
  5. Tap Install beside Todoist.

Add a task

Add new tasks in Todoist for Apple Watch:

  1. Open the Todoist app on the Apple Watch.
  2. Scroll up and select Add task.
  3. Add a task by using the keyboard or tapping the microphone icon at the bottom-right and dictating the task name. A menu will appear where you can choose the project.
  4. Tap OK at the top-right to confirm.

Your watch will recognize dates too, so you can say things like today, next Saturday, or May 31.

Add or change a task date

Add a due date or change the existing due date of a task:

  1. Open the Todoist app on your watch.
  2. Choose the view where the task is located.
  3. Tap the task you’d like to reschedule.
  4. Tap the calendar icon in the top-right.
  5. Select one of the preset dates or dictate it using Siri.
  6. Go back to one of your views.

Complete a task

Complete a task on your watch with a tap:

  1. Open the Todoist app on your watch.
  2. Open the view containing the task you want to complete.
  3. Tap the circle next to the task you’d like to complete.

Warning

Todoist for watchOS requires that the Apple Watch is in range of your Apple device to be able to update information, such as adding new tasks, changing dates, or completing tasks.

Use Todoist complications on your watch face

Stay updated with Todoist at a glance by using any of these watch complications:

  • Utilitarian Large shows the next task.
  • Graphic Rectangular shows the next task and how many tasks are due today and overdue.
  • Graphic Circular shows the completed percentage of today's tasks.
  • Graphic Bezel shows the completed percentage of today's tasks.
  • Graphic Corner shows the completed percentage of today's tasks.

Troubleshoot issues with Todoist for watchOS

If mobile notifications are turned on in the Reminders settings, and your Apple device is locked or asleep, you'll receive notifications on the Apple Watch. However, you won't receive notifications on both devices if the Apple Watch is locked with a passcode.

If you're having trouble syncing Todoist with the watchOS app, follow these steps:

  1. Delete Todoist for watchOS on your Apple Watch
  2. Log out of Todoist for iOS. Then, log back in.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Reinstall Todoist for watchOS.

If you see a "Log in to Todoist" prompt in Todoist for watchOS, even though you're already logged in to Todoist on your Apple device, follow these steps:

  1. Delete Todoist for watchOS on your Apple Watch.
  2. Log out of Todoist for iOS. Then, log back in.
  3. Restart your phone.
  4. Reinstall Todoist for watchOS.
