Introduction to Todoist multi-windows on desktop

Looking for a smooth way to manage and reference tasks across Todoist? Open multiple windows in the desktop app to keep different views or tasks open at the same time, or float a Todoist window above the rest to keep it within easy reach at all times.

Open a new window of your Home view

  1. Open the Todoist desktop app.
  2. Use the keyboard shortcut Shift ⇧ + Option ⌥ + Cmd ⌘ + N to open a new Home view. 

Open a project in a new window

  1. Open the Todoist desktop app.
  2. Click the three-dot icon on the right from your project name in the sidebar.
  3. Select Open in new window.

Use Shift ⇧ + Cmd ⌘ + N to open the current view in a new window.

Open a task in a new window

  1. Open the Todoist desktop app.
  2. Click the three-dot icon on the right from the task that you want to open.
  3. Select Open in new window.

Float Todoist on top

Float any Todoist window to keep it visible at all times for easy reference. 

  1. Open the Todoist desktop app.
  2. Click Window on the top bar. 
  3. Click Float on top (Option ⌥ + Cmd ⌘ +F)
