Use keyboard shortcuts to quickly change a project's (or task's) position and hierarchy level

MW

Control key + arrow keys would be a natural choice. The same shortcut keys could be used in either the project pane or the task pane.

Also, allow selecting multiple projects or tasks using control click, and then push the whole group up/down/right/left with Control+Arrows.

Hello Matt,

Thank you for your suggestion, we will consider adding Ctrl+Up/Down Arrow to move the position of the task in future updates. For now, please note that Ctrl+Right/Left Arrow is already available and you can use it to indent/unindent a project or a task.

Also, to quickly indent tasks, you can grab it by the drag & drop handle and while holding it, use they keys 1, 2, 3 or 4 to set its indent level.

Best regards,
David

The Ctrl+Right/Left arrow would be more useful if it worked when a task was highlighted, rather than requiring to enter edit mode first.

Also, hoping that the Ctrl-Arrow keys can work for projects as well as tasks.

Thanks,
Matt

Also, in task edit mode the Ctrl+Arrow doesn't really work correctly, because the edit box tries to eat this shortcut and use it for cursoring by word rather than by character.

Hello Matt,

The Ctrl+Arrow shortcut can be used to indent both tasks and projects.

If it doesn't work for you, please tell me:
- What browser are you using?
- Can you reproduce this issue in a different browser (if so - which one)?
- Does the issue persist when you disable all plugins you have in your browser?

Best regards,
David

Hi,

I also have the same problems with this. I thought the feature is not implemented. Specifically:
Projects:
- Ctrl + L/R does not work
Tasks:
- Ctrl + L/R in edit mode works but as Matt wrote, it also moves the cursor across the text of the task
- Ctrl + L/R edit mode off does not work.

It should be intuitive , with Arrows to move the highlighted task (no edit mode) , with Tab to jump between Project/Task panes, and with Ctrl + Arrows to move the tasks/Projects around

I'm using Chrome Version 26.0.1410.64 m

Thanks

Hello Arpad,

Both options to indent both projects and tasks using Ctrl+RightArrow and Ctrl+LeftArrow seem to work, but please note - you must edit the project or task to do so.

To indent a task while not in edit mode, please grab it by its drag & drop handle and while holding it, use the number keys 1, 2, 3 or 4 to set the level.

Nonetheless, we'll consider adding more keyboard shortcuts in the future.

Best regards,
David

Is there anyway to quickly switch between projects and inbox views in desktop app? If this isn't implemented, maybe tie it to pgUp/pgDown?

I found out that if I make the desktop app window bigger I can see my projects in the sidebar.... ooops! My vote for that shortcut is still there, but this does make navigating between projects with the mouse easier - I didn't know it would rearrange the layout if I made the window bigger.
