Deadlines in "In Progress" & Staff updates on Top Voted Suggestions

DK

First of all, I love your product.

However, I did get a bit concerned when I was reading through all the new feature requests and there being this void for when we could expect to see new features, and sometimes a void in response at all from the IST staff.

I want to believe that the people behind this fantastic tool are just as excited about it as their eagerly waiting fans and users.

So go ahead! Give us some rough deadlines, throw in a bunch of disclaimers, & let us know where things stand with the highly voted suggestions.

On a scale of 1-10 I am asking for about a 3.5 level of accountability and about a 8 level of suggestion interaction from you guys.

Hello David,

as I've mentioned in this thread: http://todoist.com/Vote/showProposal/195/#comment_995 all your suggestions are being read, we discuss them and implement many useful features all the time. Please refer to the "Completed" list in the Votebox.

Of course, some features are very complex and the offline support which came with the latest release required the whole app to be rewritten to HTML5. We have to prioritize some of the requests based on what resources they require and what other features we'll plan to add afterwards and the HTML5 migration, even though it took a long time, was a necessary step as now we can add next features to the new structure. Adding them first would only require recreating them right after launch once again for HTML5.

We avoid posting specific deadlines as we release a feature only when we're fully satisfied with the result. Unfortunately, this means many changes, pre-release bug fixes, sometimes even starting over with a completely new approach if the results weren't satisfying and therefore the release dates change. Working with a deadline in mind could lower the quality of the end end-product.

That said, rest assured that we are very aware of all your suggestions. You can always give us any feedback even about any newly released suggestions as we announce them on our social media channels on G+, Facebook and Twitter which you're welcome to follow and always let us know what you think about each new release and/or what changes would you like to see in it.

Best regards,
David

There appears to be a lot of duplication in the Votebox and a lot of very old suggestions (1 year+), some of which have been implemented. I love the concept but reading through all 33 pages with very few suggestions showing any indication that they might be taken further.

I would suggest trying to find a way to slim down the list. I appreciate this will be difficult but possibly using a time bar on ideas that don't attract more votes within a set time period?

If the policy is clear then hopefully good ideas will be reposted, either by the original poster or someone new.

It's clear that you try to group similar ideas but it looks like the process needs to be done again. It's difficult to maintain interest in an untidy list and makes it feel like you've lost interest too!

Hello J,

We've recently started to group similar requests by merging them which closes the merged thread and add its votes to the other thread, but there may indeed still be some duplicated threads which we might have missed.

We're sorry for the confusion, we'll try to keep the "in progress" and "completed" lists as up-to-date as we can.

Best regards,
David
