Option: Sunday first day of week on calendar

G

Have an option on pop-up calendar so that Sundays are shown as the first day of the week - more like a traditional US calendar.

This is definitely necessarily! I make the mistake of selecting the wrong day pretty frequently because I'm used to Sundays being first!

Totally agree, a simple select in the config section with the first day of the week and everyone would be happy.

Just adding my vote to this - I love the calendar, but the order throws me a bit. A config option would be great.

I agree with RaMMz above! Make this a config option so everyone can be happy. :)

I concur! I never use Monday as the 1st day of the week!

This would be very helpful. Another alternative might be to cleary shade the Saturday/Sunday columns to make it obvious to those of us who are used to a Sunday-through-Saturday view that the weekend days are together.

Although Monday being first day became the ISO standard, it is absolutely unused in Brazil. I frequently select days wrong because of it. In order to lessen my problem, I now type dates. If this could be set in config properties, that would be great.

I keep assigning tasks to the incorrect date because of the week starting with Monday. Please fix!

If this change is made, then it should be optional, for those - like myself - who are used to working with Monday as the first day of the week on a calendar. One other point: I believe there are also those who may be used to Saturday or another day being the start of the week. So, I suggest making it a bit more flexible than just a choice between Sunday and Monday. If doing the change, one might as well allow any day to be the beginning of the week?

I can't believe this... 4 months and no reply by the staff.

Hello RaMMz,

please note - the lack of response in this section does not imply lack of interest on developing this feature. In fact, all suggestions and feature requests posted in the Votebox are being monitored and reviewed by the staff and the developers.

Unfortunately, due to a lot of other improvements we're working on right now, with the Todoist Mobile applications as a top priority and 4 of previously requested features http://todoist.com/Vote/inProgress/ including two mostly anticipated improvements, we can't implement all requested features even if some of them may appear easy to develop.

We appreciate any feedback and we will certainly add such option to Todoist.

Thank you for your patience and sorry for the delay.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

I think this should be a priority for the settings. This is very common, especially in the US.

Thanks,
Joel

Hey

This would definitely have to be an option, otherwise the problem will just change to european users.

Also I want to use this proposal to draw attention to another problem with the calender (see https://todoist.com/Vote/showProposal/89/). The calender should also show the first days of the next month to allow for easier rescheduling. This is especially a problem in weeks that spread over to months.

Thanks
Paul

Please, please, please add. Coding for this feature should be simple. I wish I had more votes so that I could help move it to the top faster!

I prefer Monday as the first day of the week. The weekend is Saturday and Sunday. Sunday is the LAST day of the week. I definitely won't vote for this.

Given Cheryl's response, perhaps the best way to handle this is to give users the option of having sunday as the first day or monday as the first day.

I think the majority of people who use google calendar or outlook will prefer the sunday as first day option.

Thanks,

Joel

Great idea Joel! Options are always better than a fixed element ヅ I like choices.

Yes, I think it should be optional. It throws me off because almost every calendar I see has Sunday as the first day of the week. So, when I am trying to set due dates, I always end up getting the wrong date.

although I can't give you an exact timeframe, we will certainly add this option in the future.

Sorry for the delay and thank you for your patience.

Hello,

this option has been implemented today.

Now you can go to Todoist Preferences -> General Settings and in the "Date and time format" section, you'll find a new drop-down menu which will allow you to choose any weekday as the starting day for the calendar in the due date field.

Thank you for all your suggestions, we hope you like this option and you're always welcome to add further feature requests for future development.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

Not yet working...

I am testing this option by setting the preferences to first day as Sunday, but it still shows up with Monday as the first day in the calendar.

Thanks for working on this.

Joel,

please try to clear your browser cache. Also, when you select a new day from the drop-down menu, wait about a second for the "pending" animation to finish before you close the Preferences window.

After closing the window, the Todoist page should reload itself automatically.

Best regards,
David

How do I opt out of emails for votes? I'm really not interested in getting an email for every single reply. I'd rather visit to read updates.

Hi,
The changes isn't working for me using Chrome. I've cleared the cache, restarted the browser and logged in and out. The change shows in the preferences, but not on the calendar.
When I opened IE, the calendar was changed correctly. Something with Chrome?

Steve.

Hello Cheryl,

unfortunately, such option is not available right now, but we will certainly consider implementing it in the future. Sorry for the inconvenience.

---

Steve,

unfortunately, I can't reproduce this issue in Chrome. Please make sure that after you select the new day, the "pending" icon next to it finishes loading and then when you close the Preferences field, the page automatically reloads.

If this doesn't solve this issue, please go to Chrome's Options -> Under the Hood -> Content Settings, click "All cookies and site data" and remove todoist.com from the list.

Best regards,
David
