1. What is difference between Inbox and team Inbox.
2. There is a project named "Audit Committee" where collaborators are Mr. Ali and Mr. Jawed. I want to assign a task to Mr. Ali, Mr. Jawed and Mr. Noman where Mr. Noman is not the project collaborator. How I can do it?

3. Can I create a Task in Inbox or Team Inbox and invite the multiple collaborators?

Hello Rana,

1. The Inbox is a private project just for you, the Team Inbox is a team project that's shared automatically with everyone in your Business team.

2. Unfortunately, you can't assign tasks to people that are not invited into the project in which the task is stored. Please invite the third person to this project and then you can assign tasks to them.

3. The Inbox is a private project that can't be shared and the Team Inbox is shared automatically, but only with the people you invite into your Business team in Business Admin -> Users. You can't share the Team Inbox with people from outside your team, but you can do so with any other project.

On the team inbox -
1) what shows in this list? Is it every task for every person in your organization?
2) Will everyone in the origanization see the same list in the team inbox, or will only the company admins see it?

Everyone see's everything within any project including Team Inbox if they are part of that project.

Just so I'm clear... from your reply, it implies that team inbox is project specific. from the UI, it appears to be all tasks across all projects.. Please clarify.

Also, please reply to my question about what exactly shows in the team inbox. Currently I have a few projects with about a half-dozen tasks, but only one task shows in the team inbox.

I cannot find any info on what the team inbox is, so please provide details.

Hello Cliff,

The "Team Inbox" is just a project, like every other project you add to your list. The only difference between it and any other project is that you don't have to share the Team Inbox because it's visible to everyone in your team by default.

That said, you can add tasks to it just like to any other project and that's basically it. It does not show tasks from other projects, it's a separate project, only one that everyone will see by default.

Would it be possible to give an example of the type of thing the Team Inbox would be useful for? Thank you.

Hi Rebecca,

Since everybody in your team has access to it, you can just throw little tasks in there as you can easily assign it to anyone. Or if you have a task that doesn't belong to a project, the Team Inbox would be a good place for that. It's a bit difficult to give out a specific example as it really depends on what you're doing.

how to handle multiple teams. for example: marketing, sales, product etc? does the Team Inbox is shared with anyone on my team=my company? or can we define different teams?

Hello Gad,

Everything in the "Team Inbox" project is accessible by every parson in your Business Admin -> Users list.

That said, if you have tasks that only certain groups or people should access, please try to create separate projects such as "Marketing", "Sales" etc. and invite only the people from these departments to these projects :-)

thanks for the super fast reply :)
1. so assuming our organization has a single Todoist business acccount, the
Team Inbox is essentially the Organization Inbox?
2. if the above is correct, then I find it not so useful and can be even
confusing/counter-productive. can we not show Team Inbox at all?

Yes, that's correct. Unfortunately, you can't disable the display of the Team Inbox, but you don't have to use it at all and only add tasks to specific projects :-)
