Completed Tasks

On some of my projects, completed tasks stay in the order the tasks were entered--which is what I want. In others, they drop to the bottom of the task list. When the tasks drop to the bottom of the task list, I have had some success, making the task active (unclick the completed box), then moving the task in place and making it completed again. But for some projects, the completed tasks continue to move to the bottom of the task list.

Complicating the problem is that you can't drag completed tasks into any order other than where they land when you mark them completed.

My question is, should the tasks stay in place when you mark a task completed as they seem to do some of the time and what I want them to do?

Is it possible to enable TODOIST to allow you to move completed tasks where you want them to be?

Enlightenment please . . .

We have basically two types of task in Todoist. The main task/parent task and sub-tasks. If you complete main tasks, it will automatically move to the bottom of the list. You can create sub-tasks to keep track of the tasks that you've completed so far.

Thanks, as I was writing post, it occured to me that the problem might have something to do with tasks/subtasks.

Let's say that in a project I have tasks with no subtasks as well as with subtasks -- which I do.

When I complete a task, I would want the task to stay in it's place in my project. If i complete all the subtasks, I would want to collapse the subtasks and then mark the parent task complete and would want that to stay in place in my project.

Why? Partially this is a way I organize my mind. But more importantly, as projects are completed, it is easier to review the project and plan for future similar projects by thinking about tasks that can be done more efficiently or that need to be moved earlier in the project to make the process work better.

At a minimum, if the tasks with their subtasks must move to the bottom, I would need for everything to stay in the same order or be able to move them to their original order. It would seem easier or simple to me to leave the tasks in their place and give users the option to see completed tasks or not.

I've just started using TODOIST. Of the many, many, many task/project managers I've used or trialed, it seems to have the quickest way of entering projects and tasks and provides the most "built-in" through the today and 7-day views to see what you have to get accomplished. I'm still learning some of its secrets and think that I'll find more that I like. I would quibble a bit about some of the ways the interface is presented, especially across web/Outlook/smartphone.

That would indeed not be possible right now, leaving completed tasks in view, but we will consider your suggestion in future updates.
