Clicking link does not open Outlook message

BS

I have created tasks using the Outlook add-in which I downloaded today. Using Outlook with Office 2013 from my employer.

I can create the tasks just fine. Cannot open the email messages when clicking on the link (when using the TD Outlook plug-in or the web version of TD).

This is the main feature I wanted for the Premium/Business version. Several others at my office are waiting to see how this works before we add them to the Business account. Thanks!

Bart

Hi,

To be clear, it does not work when using the web version of Todoist? Then this is the correct behaviour, though we know not ideal. Links created with our plugins such as Outlook require you to be using Outlook to open those links.

We hope this can be changed in the future though. There is another alternative though you may be interested in, that would be emailing a project. https://todoist.com/blog/2013/01/zero-inbox-policy-with-todoist/

Thanks, Brendon. I appreciate the link you sent and will probably just use the send tasks by forwarding an email so that the email details are included on all platforms.

However, I would like to try and figure out why it doesn't work when I try to "Add Email as Task" from within Outlook. I can create tasks this way, but when I click on the task within the Outlook plug-in, I cannot get the email to open (like it does on my wife's gmail account and on the product videos). Any thoughts on this?

Hello Bart,

This is unfortunately an issue on our end. There are many ways to track a message and messages have different hidden IDs, some of them actually change. We've tried using different ones in the past and although the one we use now seems to be most reliable, it still isn't 100% reliable.

We've found a Windows app lately that can track the message's ID regardless of whether the message was moved to a different folder after adding it as a task or if an Exchange server assign a different ID to it so we'll look into reproducing the way this app does that for our plugin.

David

Update: Not sure why it happened, but I am now able to open emails from tasks within Outlook. Maybe restarting the program on a new day made some kind of difference! Anyway, if it keeps working, then I'm good. Thank you!
