End dates

This may exist already, but, is it possible when setting dates to have an end date. If not, I suggest to the devs to add an "until" function in the date area when setting timelines.

Is this already possible or is it something that you would consider implementing.

Kind Regards

This is not possible at this time but we will consider adding such option in the future. You can use SHIFT and then check the item off to finish a recurring task for good.

Hi Brendon,

Thanks for getting back to me. I definitely think it would be a good idea to add this.

Is a so important feature ! I need to create a task related to an recurring payment from October/2014 to May/2015, I don't understand why Todoist doesn't allow it.

I second this feature request!

I don't know what's under the hood of todoist - is it hard to implement end dates in a fashion like the start-dates for repeated tasks?

Even i am waiting for this and calendar view feature desperately...

Definitely a requirement for project management. We have start dates but can't program a project for a completion date.

Adding my vote for this feature request for project management. Of course right now I can simply delete the recurring task on the end date, but with a large number of active projects at a time that each require recurring tasks until a certain date, it would be nice to streamline my to-do list by entering the end dates in advance.

I agree, the possibility to have an end date is very needed!

Agreed - need to be able to have an end date for a recurring task

I also concur.

In the meantime, instead of automatically ending the recurring task past a certain date or after a certain number of events, I must add a second task to remind me to stop the first one. Silly.

I add my vote to adding this feature. It's important to have an end date to a recurring task. Otherwise, as Mathieu says, it takes a separate task to remember the end date.

+1 (also, as someone who's learning to code, I'm interested to know why it's tricky at the moment!) :-)

My vote as well. Very difficult to handle recurring tasks with a discrete period of time. To have something come up as a todo item and have to remember that there are no more todo for this --- and then delete it. Or have to manually remember that "this is the last one" and delete it -- defeats some of the purpose of the to do list. You want to be able to model the task and time when the todo is set-up so the user need not think about it again.

Ending dates are a MUCH NEEDED feature for college instructors like me. I have numerous recurring tasks that go the the end of the term and then stop. Next quarter, I have a whole new schedule. Finals week is insanely busy. It's the time I need my todo list to be helping me most, not requiring a lot of extra housekeeping to clean up old recurring tasks.

Hi Diane,

It should be possible now to set start/end dates for recurring tasks. For example, "every day starting April 21 until May 15" :-)

I hate be a glass half empty guy, this long awaited feature has been badly needed for some time, however, it would be nice to have some kind of indication that the last task in a series is in fact the last task. A blue dot, the date highlighted, I guess I'm looking for the idiot light :-/ . Maybe it does this already, I just haven't noticed.

Any suggestions

Hi Barry,

We don't have such indicator yet, but we will consider it for future updates. :-) Thanks a lot for the heads up!

End dates are already supported by using the "until" syntax, for example: "every day until 20 July" or "every Friday starting 26 Jun until 17 Jul" :-)

We'll add this to our documentation very soon.
