Unassign a task assigned to a person

A couple of my tasks were assigned to one person, but I'd like to make them unassigned. The tasks will not let me, it will only let me assign to someone else. Am I doing something wrong, or does this need to be changed?

Thanks!

Hello Elizabeth,

Please tell me what browser are you using, can you reproduce this in another browser and post the exact steps what you click and where and what happens.

To unassign a task - click on the avatar (which replaces the head-shaped icon) and select "Unassigned" at the top of the list of people that can be assigned to it. This should remove the assignment. Let me know if and what happens and which point when you try this.

David

Hi, David,

Thanks for the quick response. I'm using Chrome and unable to try another browser at home, so I'll try when I get to work tomorrow. In Chrome, when I click "Unassigned" it's as though I'm not clicking on anything - it just reverts to the current assignee. I can go back and forth - in this case between my husband and me - but clicking on "Unassigned" doesn't do anything.

I'll give it a shot in Firefox tomorrow.

Thanks!

Elizabeth,

Please try to go to Chrome's Advanced Settings -> Content Settings -. All cookies and site data, find and delete todoist.com on this list, reload Chrome and log back in. Also, what version of Chrome are you using (in case this doesn't work)?

David

Hi, David,

I tried this in both Firefox and Safari and I was unable to unassign tasks. I did as you suggested with Chrome (version 36, I believe) and deleted cookies, but that did not work, either. This seems to be a problem on Todoist's end.

My own solution will have to be to delete the task and add it again.

Thanks,

Elizabeth

Elizabeth,

Sorry to hear that. We can not reproduce it at this time, but will continue to look into it.

Hi, Brendon and David,

I wanted to follow up on this. It worked fine on my PC at work and on my iPhone - for some reason it still doesn't work on my Macbook in any browsers, but at least it's working elsewhere.

Thanks!

Elizabeth

Elizabeth,

Based on this information, it has to be a caching issue. Regardless of what computer you're using, the browser will always redirect you to the same todoist.com site so the only way for there to be a difference is if one computer has an older or corrupt version of the site stored in its cache.

Please try to use Chrome on the MacBook, go to Chrome's Settings -> Advanced Settings -> Content Settings -> All cookies and site data, type "todo" into the search field there to find all Todoist-based entries and delete them. Then reload Chrome and it will be forced to read the whole site directly from the server and store a new copy in the cache. This will ensure that you'll use the exact same version than on any other device.

Regards,
David
