Sub Projects

LF

Are sub-projects autoshared if the main project is shared?

This would be great feature if not!!

Hi Lorie,

It does not auto share all sub-projects, we will consider adding this option in future updates.

Brendon.

along similar lines, it would be extremely helpful, if projects/subprojects would retain the nesting structure when shared (just as task and subtasks do)

i.e. currently if I have the project ABC and the subproject DEF and I share both
my collaborators see them on the same level, which renders the extremely useful nesting almost useless in a team environment

it would be great if this could be implemented together with the inheritance of sharing properties

I'd just like to say this would be a massive feature request for us as well. We've just started using todolist today and it's definitely something that's missing. We're highly likely to move to the premium service in the next couple of days, but if we could be assured this was being implemented you'd definitely have us sold!

Yes to both of these as well. For most projects I create multiple sub-projects and I'm just discovering I have to share all of them as well even though the main project is shared. Its very annoying, especially on a Business account where the premise is to make collaborating with my team easier.

Having to add them to each subproject and then discovering that they don't see the useful tiered view I see just seems against the entire point of subprojects.

It would be even better if on Business Accounts there was an option to auto add my team to projects, like Basecamp offers.

Hi!

This has to be added SOON!

We have about 60 current subprojects and we've just created 4, so we still have 56 to go. It's a total waste of time having to share each subproject one by one.

Thanks!

The tool has a limited life span with users if we cant properly synchronize projects
The only way currently is to share your projects/Sub-projects list as a screen image and have these mirrored manually by other users work on the same projects, To Hard

I disagree that sub projects should be shared. I can always turn on the individual sharing of a project or subproject if I want. I organize projects like this:

MAIN COMPANY CLIENT
LEADS PRIVATE
LEADS TEAM
TEAM MEMBER 1
TEAM MEMBER 2

In this system I have privacy on the client in the MAIN project, I have privacy on certain sales and leads I work in the LEADS PRIVATE, I have the ability to pool leads in the LEADS TEAM but keep them private until I assign to a team member and then in TEAM MEMBER 1 I share ONLY with that sales person and others in support. TEAM MEMBER 2 shares with a second person and our support staff. But TEAM 1 and TEAM 2 people do not see each other's leads or progress. If I get you folks right here - If sub projects share from the top level anyone with ACCESS to MAIN, could see all the way down to each team member. Anyone with access to LEADS TEAM could see all the team members. Not valuable for my situation and use pattern.

That wouldn't be a problem, just don't share the main project and then you can still individually share the sub projects. Or if TD had proper permissions implemented, you could chosse whether child projects automatically inherit parent permissions and individually grant/deny permission at any level. This is actually something that's standard in the software industry. And if you're afraid that it's getting to complicated, just make the current behavior the default and then everything will be for you as it ever was as long as you don't actively interfere. But for use, the possibilities are critical.

It's almost 280 days since the question was asked.
Are there any news from developers about this issue?

Hello Alexey,

Unfortunately we don't have any news about this at this point, but it's something we're planning to implement this year.

David
