What version of iOS are you running? Can you please make sure that you have enough space in your iPad? Can you also try connecting to a different internet connection (either wifi/3g/4g) and see if that helps?
Do you have any other iOS devices (eg. iPhone, iPod Touch)? Did you try installing Todoist there if you had any?
