Recurring daily task question - It seems to depend on when you mark task complete, when the next recurrence will be...

Hi - I've read some of the recurring task questions but haven't found the answer to my question yet.

I have a recurring daily task (let's say Task Y on Day 1). Often I don't mark the completion of task Y until day 2. I would hope that the program would add the next occurrence task Y to day 2 but it does not. In this case the next occurrence of task Y shows up on day 3. I have seen this same phenomena with several recurring tasks.

Am I just using the program wrong? This is kind of a deal breaker for me...

Hi Andrea,

That is working as intended to prevent your recurring tasks from piling up. In your example, the recurring task has showed on day 2 already so completing it would move it to the next closest date that fits with the rule, which in your example is day 3.

Clyde

So just don't mark the previous day complete and move on to today? Not very satisfying if completing that task every day is a struggle...

Hi Andrea,

I suggest to not complete that instance yet for that day if you've missed it the other day. I don't see this changing anytime soon though as this is actually conscious choice by our developers. Sorry it's not working the way you expect it. :-(

Regards,

Clyde

Perhaps this could be considered if the program ever moves in the direction of habit tracking. Folks love to see streaks of success... Thanks for your time and patience ;)
