Change My Notification Email Address

CD

I initially created my account with my personal Google account, but now I need all of the notifications to go to my work email address. I have the Outlook plugin - and when I try to change the email in settings, it tells me it already has that email address. Help!

Hi Team,

I have the same issue. I have recently changed my primary address from @gmail.com to @outlook.com, yet am still receiving notifications to both the @gmail.com & @outlook.com.

How do I remove any reference to the @gmail.com address?

Thanks in advance, BM.

P.S. Please do no post my name to the Todoist Support Forum, my initials only. Thank you.

Hi,

Please sign into your account at Todoist.com, head to the gear icon in the top right corner, Settings. Under Account, this is where you can change your email address.

If you already have an account which is why it would say it already has an account with that email, you need to sign into that specific account (the one you aren't using, which you want to switch the address too), change the email to something random, delete it, then sign into the correct account and change the email to the one you want.

Regards,
Brendon.

That's what I tried to do. When I signed in with the other email, and
asked it to send me my password, it told me that no account exists with
that email.

Corinne,

You may have created it using Google, so you'd need to sign into it using Google. To be clear, you tried the Reset my Password because you don't know it for the other account?

Once you do sign in with Google, you will have to set a password, before you can delete and change email. Also, you should disconnect Google from that account as well, before deleting.

Regards,
Brendon.

Hi Brendan,

Tried what you said, already had anyway ... fail.

I can now only login using the @outlook.com account and *not* the @gmail.com one.

I created my initial account with Google and I have set my password. I
have disconnected the account from Google and uninstalled the Outlook
plugin. It still won't let me change my email to my work email.

When I try to log in to an account with my work email, and ask it to reset
the password, it tells me that no account exists with that name.

How would it be storing my work email if it doesn't exist anywhere?

Hi,

So let me clarify some things.

BM, you had an account with the @gmail.com address. You changed the email address within this account to @outlook.com. So your account is actually changed to @outlook.com, but email notifications (daily digest too?) are still going to the Gmail address?

Corinne, you have an account that was personal, and when you try to change the email address within the settings area, it says that email is already in use?

When trying to sign into that other account (the address you want to use) you are un-able to do so, it asks to setup a password?

Regards,
Brendon.

Hi Brendan: Yes, I get notifications & daily digest go to both addresses, cheers BM.

BM,

Are you sure there isn't somehow another account of Todoist using the Gmail address? I just ask to confirm, obviously the tasks and data would be different. That is an odd issue. Have you signed out and back in anytime recently? It may be worth a shot, also, try turning notifications and daily digest, wait a few minutes, and then turn it back on.

Regards,
Brendon.

The Gmail account is the one that is working. I have logged out and logged
back in and also tried turning off the notifications. I would just cancel
the account, but I've already paid for premium.

Is there some way I can talk to someone on the phone?

Corinne,

We are able to transfer Premium from one account to another, but I feel deleting that account is a drastic solution to a problem.

Though, I have yet been able to reproduce this. It should not be sending to the old address. Maybe, even try adding those emails to SPAM in the old address?

Brendon.

In my situation...it won't let me change the email in the first place. It
will only use the Gmail address. I go into Settings, then Account, then
edit the email, enter in my work email (that I'd like it to use) and a pop
up comes out that says "The page at https://todoist.com says: Email already
found".

In the Outlook app, I am able to send emails to the list from my work
account, but I am not able to change my primary email address to the work
address.

Hope that makes it more clear.

Hello Corinne,

If the email is already found, please log into the other account that uses this email and change it there. Then this email will be free to re-use.

If you can't log in, try to create a new account with this email, then change it and again - this will "free" this address to re-use on your main account.

Best regards,
David
