Some daily recurring tasks are disappearing

I have several tasks set to recur daily. Sometimes I notice that they will not show up under the Today view, even though I have NOT checked them as complete. When I look for them in their folders, they have somehow been deleted. I have now had to recreate several tasks, and I am worried I am forgetting some.

This happens in the iOS app, desktop app, and Chrome extension.

Hello Erin,

Please note that a not completed recurring tasks will remain its original date and become overdue. But within this project, you should still see it with an overdue date. Are you certain that they're completely gone? Did you try to search for their names, labels or any other properties they might have had?

And finally, can you reproduce this issue every time you add a task with a certain date such as "everyday"?

Hello David,

Indeed I did search and they are gone from everything but the trash. And yes, this happens with every task set to "every weekday."

I think what's happening is this:
- I miss a day of recurring tasks
- when I return, I see them all as "overdue" under Yesterday's list but not Today's
- I check them all off from yesterday in the hopes that they will reappear in today's list
- when they don't, I locate them in their respective project folders and notice that the due date is still recurring, but has skipped today and now shows up as "tomorrow @ xx"
- I click on that to reset it to every day starting today
- the task shows up again under Today
- I check them off as I finish them today
- they all move to the trash and are no longer recurring tasks

I hope that helps! If not I will try to illustrate.

When you complete and overdue task, it will indeed move not to today, but to the next day since you're completing it today so in general, please complete a task once you catch up to it today, not if you're only planning to do it today.

However, trying to follow the steps you've mentioned, I still can't reproduce it. No matter how I change its date, it will not move to the history.

Please clarify:
- When you say you "reset it to every day starting today", do you left-click on the task's name to open the input field and type exactly "every day starting today" into the date field or any thing else?
- You've said that after the first completion it becomes due "tomorrow @ xx"... so this task originally had a due time as well? If so, please tell me what time it hes or better - what's the exact original due date and time the task had when you first added it?

I left-click on the date field and type in the following:
"Every weekday @ 10 am"

Then I click on today's date on the calendar (since it's set to tomorrow)
and click save.

I will try your approach of leaving them unchecked when they are in fact
overdue; that makes sense to me now.

I'll let you know if it happens again! I just recreated all of my recurring
tasks, so we'll see how it goes.

So you type in the date and then instead of saving the task with this recurring date format, you're first changing this date format to just "today" by selecting it through the calendar and then saving it?

In that case - this is what's causing this issue since your task is not being saved as recurring, but just as "due today". If you want it to recur, please type "every weekday at 10am" and hit ENTER to save it - that's how it will become recurring :-)

Ah, so I was undoing the recurring setting by clicking the calendar date.
Makes sense; I'll be sure to change that going forward. Thanks!
