Completed tasks in iOS app 8.3

S

Hello!

This morning, the new iOS app was available for download - great.

The feature to show completed tasks has been added, but unfortunately it doesn't really work.

I completed a few tasks in my "work" project in the last month, and the app claims that the last finished task was done on the 21. of April.

When I check on the web, the completed tasks are displayed - besides being counted multiple for yesterday's server problems.

Please advise on the app problem.

Best wishes
Silvia

Hi Silvia,

Do you have this problem with other projects as well? I'll report this to our devs and will let you know for any updates here.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Hoping to get back to you as soon as I can. :-)

Regards,

Clyde

Hello Silvia,

Sorry, forgot to ask. Did you tap on "Load earlier completed tasks" and still it didn't show up?

Best Regards,

Clyde

Hello Clyde!
Loading earlier completed tasks didn't help at all, sorry.
It looks like every project is affected, though the date range from which completed tasks are missing is different - in the inbox, I've only seen a few days missing.
It looks like a few tasks I completed today made it into the list, but I'm not sure that all my tasks made it - I really don't have the time to check now.
Hope that helps.
Best wishes

Hi Silvia,

Thanks for the info! I have now passed this along to our developers. If you have time, can you please consider re-installing the iOS app. Not sure if you have done that already but the thing is, I tried searching my tasks and looks like it can view all of it.

Sorry for the inconvenience.

Regards,

Clyde

Hello Clyde!
Ok, I'll try that after work - that just might work. I'll let you know.
It's not really an inconvenience considered the feature was not here one day ago :)

Hello!

Reinstalling the app didn't help. The app just isn't displaying all the completed tasks.
In fact, it's not even displaying all the tasks I completed today correctly, only some.

Please advise.

Best wishes

Hello Silvia,

Unfortunately, we can't reproduce this so far. Could you please try to create a new test project add a few tasks to it - all parent tasks with no recurring dates, complete a few, go to a different project and back and see if you can view all of them on the completed list?

Best regards,
David

Hello David!
I tried what you wanted - yes, those tasks are visible under completed tasks.
What does that tell us?

Hi Peter,

Can you please confirm that if you go to the web, you see completed tasks from there on the same project? Please note that the completed sub-tasks will not show up there.

In any case, we have reported this to our developers and are now currently investigating the issue. We're hoping to have an update regarding the issue soon.

Best Regards,

Clyde

Hello Clyde!
Yes, I see all my completed tasks on the web - and they are not sub tasks.
Thank you, I hope the developers can find the error.

Hi Silvia,

I have a few follow up questions. First of of all, when you viewed the completed tasks in the web, did you use the "View all completed" option in the Karma points or the "Show completed tasks" in the lower right corner of each project?

Please note that "View all completed" is just a log and during the outage, that might have caused several tasks to be completed multiple times. When comparing the web and iOS app, please use the "Show completed tasks" on the bottom of each project.

Can you please confirm that that's what you're using to compare the 2 reports?

Best Regards,

Clyde

Hello Clyde!
I used the option via the Karma screen. And then filtered for my project.
I'm aware that tasks are shown multiple times there, but there are a lot of completed tasks missing from before the server crash in the app, and they are all shown on the Web.

Hello Clyde!
I just realized that there is a difference between "show all completed tasks" and "show completed tasks".
What do you mean "just a log"? Compared to what? And which tasks are recorded where?
Why is there a difference?

Hi Silvia,

Yes, there is a difference. When you complete a task, it get's logged on that "View completed tasks" (the option in the Karma).

This would not normally matter as they should show the same info but the data that being pulled in the iOS app is the the one from your "Show completed task" option. See attached image.

If you find the discrepancy between them, then it's not an issue with the iOS app but more of the web that we would need to report. Can you please check if there's a discrepancy on the report that I'm referring to (the one shown in the attached image)?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Clyde

Hello Clyde!
Ok I see. I think there are differences between both lists and the completed tasks list and the iOS app.
But I will have to check carefully - it does get confusing on the iPhone :-)
I'll check later and let you know what I find. Thank you for your support - I'll be back in a few hours with my findings.
Best wishes

Hello Clyde!
You're absolutely right, the iOS app and the "show completed tasks" are pulling the same data, and showing the same data.
Unfortunately, the tasks shown there are not all the tasks I did - the "show all completed tasks" from the Karma is showing all the tasks.
So I will report the discrepancy in a new ticket!
Thank you for your support!

Hello Silvia,

The "View All Completed" link in the Karma includes all completed occurrences of recurring tasks because it works like a log of what you've checked off, but the "Show completed" option in a project shows tasks that are physically in the history and no longer active. Recurring tasks are considered active.

David

Hello David!

I get what you're saying but it's rather strange. So all the repeating tasks at work I get to do week after week are not viewable on the iOS app?
Even though I've completed them, and it's logged.
What a dissapointment - the view completed tasks option is useless to me like this, as I rely heavily on repeating tasks.

So I will have to wait for karma to become visible on the iOS version? Will my real list be visible then?

Best wishes
Silvia

Silvia,

We're sorry to hear that :-( The option to view completed tasks gives you access to the tasks that are "done for good". If you move a recurring task to the history through the web, then it will actually be removed from the active task list and added to the history.

If you're still working on this task and just check of its occurrences, this task is still not really "completed", but "done for now" - for the one occurrence. So again, this new feature doesn't show you a log of checked off occurrences, but gives direct access to the tasks removed from the list.

We'll look into adding more options to our app in the future, incl. Karma or access to the "completed" log file.

Best regards,
David

Hello David!

You see, most repeating tasks are never done "for good" - like, for example the weekly review of work tasks I have to do. I'll have to do it over again next week, but I still completed this weeks task.
Seeing what tasks were done when helps productivity a lot, and especially repeating tasks need every boost as they get tiresome no matter what.

But, as you said, I guess I'll have to wait for Karma to make it's way into the iOS app.

Best wishes
Silvia

I have recurring tasks that do not affect the tally of karma for the day. It is a bit of a bummer when you complete three tasks, but the official total for the day does not include them. It keeps making miss my daily target.
