Adding contacts

I am considering the premium version. One thing I'd like to be able to do is add a contact to a to do, so that I can dial them directly from the reminder. Is this possible?

Hello Tony,

That's partially possible. You can't add a contact to a task meaning - you can access a list of contacts and select one, but you can add phone numbers into task notes and all numbers in a note should automatically become dialable when tapping on them.

Best regards,

I'd really love to see this feature as well. It's incredible helpful. Please see my attached mock-up.

That does indeed look like it would be quite handy! I suspect the challenge in linking a contact is the cross-platform nature of the app. If you select your iOS contact and then try to view it in the Outlook plugin or Mac app or somewhere else, that same contact may or may not exist, and may not match up that easily--names can differ slightly, etc.

A compromise would be to use a platform-specific contact picker like your mock-up, and then have the app embed the contact details into the note instead of the contact itself, and that way it's just text that will be available on any platform on which you view the task.

I think this would be very handy indeed!

I like the mock up *a lot*. The contact integration is really useful!

PS: it would be even better if I could add a contact and todoist realises that I want to "call" them or "mail" them or something...

finnporter, for what it's worth, you can mimic a list of contacts by creating a category "contacts", and adding each contact as a task under this category. If you precede task name with asterisk (*), it will not require completion. Then you can add telefone numbers, links, emails to it as usual.
You can even refer to such "contact" from other tasks, by getting a reference url and adding it manually into another task, but that's slow and inefficient. I wonder why they still don't have this supported.
