Could not sync with Todoist

When I try to get my Todoist on my desktop a popup comes up that says"Could not syn with Todoist. Try again later." It has been like that for days. I had it set up to just click the icon and sign in. Now I have to go through my browser to get in. Please help.

Hello RoseAnn,

Please try to use the Logout option after right-clicking on the TD icon in the system tray and see if it helps. Also, are you behind a proxy or any corporate network? Does relaunching the app help?

When I first click on the TD icon to open the app the window to log in
comes up and then a Window message comes up over it the say that it can
not sync with Todoist. So then I can't click on anything in the Todoist
log in window. I am using a home notebook computer. The internet is
connected to the main desktop computer and I sign in to that as a guest.

RoseAnn,

Are you able to take a screenshot of this error message and attach it here? That could help us figure out what is going on.

That being said, you are indeed using our desktop app for Windows correct? So your laptop is connected by WiFi on your network, does this issue occur if trying on the desktop computer?

Hi,
Screenshot attached. I believe it is the desktop app. I have been
using it for quite a few months already. WiFi yes, I don't use the
desktop computer as that is my husband's, I only use my laptop and that
is the only on with Todoist on it. When I signed up for Todoist it was
from my laptop and everything was downloaded to that and only to that.

Hi, I am facing the same problem. Todoist has suddenly stopped working. It doesn't allow me to log out either. I tried changing my password and restarting my computer. Nothing works. I need to access it via my browser, which is tedious.

Any solutions?

Your website has basically put my desktop out of business!  Everytime I open up the browser I get a message of 'could not sync with Todoist. Please try again later.'  from this point forward nothing else works on the screen. I cannot close down the webpage or get to any of my other pages. I was able to remove the todoist from my favorites tool bar, yet for some reason it is still coming to this page on start up. When do you intend to have this fixed?

Hi,

This is caused by our server issues, which are being resolved now. We hope it won't be much longer.

As for this happening when you open your browser, your startpage is probably set to our address.

Is there a way to delete it from the start page without opening up the web browser?

No, but are you saying even the browser menus are frozen? You are the only user so far to say this is causing freezing. The server issues are resolved, and are taking a bit of time to get back to 100%. Are you still getting this message? It should start to get back to normal now.

YES, everything once the webpages load become frozen except for the todoist message. I am only able to click on the word close or x and it goes away but less than a 1/2 second later it pops right back up again. I am not able to go anywhere else and it will not permanently close. This has been going on for way to long, many days now.

actually it doesn't say 'close' it just says 'ok' so I click on it, but it just pops right back up.

The server issues are resolved now. Try clearing the cache for your browser and re-open it. It should not continue to happen now.

Please try to right-click on the red TD icon in the system tray, choose the "Logout" option from there and log back in. Let us know if it helps.

RoseAnn,

The screenshot does not show that you are un-able to click on the TD icon in the system tray, so we would assume it's possible. Are you saying it's frozen as well?

That being said, exit it completely (make sure it's dead from Task Manager) and then clear this cache by removing all items, then start the app again.

When I go to c: drive in file manager and put in the first one you gave
me, it connects to Bing. When I put in the second one a lot of stuff
comes up: a cache folder which has 4 more folders and a bunch of files
in it. Is that what you want me to delete?
I tried running C Cleaner, that didn't do anything.
Right clicking the TD icon in the system tray doesn't do anything
either, it will not close or open or anything else.

RoseAnn,

Yes, I would like you to remove all those files. While Todoist is closed (you can make sure its closed by opening Task Manager, and ending the task of any that say Todoist).

That being said, we are looking into this and hope to find a fix soon.
