I tried editing a task myself and seems to be working fine. Can you please try the following steps?
1.) log-out and log back in again (if this doesn't work, try step 2)
2.) re-install the app
Really sorry for the inconvenience. Because the issue is not replicable, it is highly possible that something went wrong with the app that you have currently installed.
I have already done that. It's really frustrating to get the same respnse for any issue reported here. Just because it is not reproducible by the Todoist support staff in the first attempt, does not mean it's not an issue. You guys need to figure out a way to get logs from users devices to troubleshoot issue like this.
Sorry to hear that. :-( The reason those steps are being asked again for most issues is because it does help us rule out the possibility of an issue isolated to a specific device, account, or setup. Almost always, if a user has pointed out that he/she has done those steps already, we don't ask them anymore and move on to other possible causes. Unfortunately, we can't always assume that everybody does this.
If needed we will bring up an issue to our developers but unless we can provide sufficient info, it would be difficult for them to fix it.
As for logs, that's a great idea and I'll definitely suggest it as improvement on our end. :-)
In this case, when did the problem start? Is your device rooted? Anything noteworthy that happened with your device? Is this happening for every task? Also, can I ask what device are you using as that might be relevant info as well?

Device is not rooted.
Issue occurs occasionally. Have to close app and re-open.
You say it occurs occasionally, can you think of anything that is different when that happens? Your network, time of day, other apps that are running etc?
And only closing and re-opening fixes it? What if you change views for example?
