Duplicate Entries

When I post a new task, it is sometimes (more frequently lately) appearing twice on all my devices: my PC (where I'm using the Firefox add-on), on my iPhone, and on my iPad. The duplicate entry shows up immediately, and it's very annoying to have to scroll through a list of tasks and have several of them be repeats. I have tried logging out and back in, but that doesn't help. Whenever I see an App update for todoist, I update it. Whenever I see in the drop-down menu on my PC that a new version is available, I update it. Nothing helps. I pay for the premium service, so it bothers me that I am continuing to have this problem. Please let me know if you are working on this and when you expect to have it resolved. If I need to do something, please let me know what I need to do. Thanks.

Hi Kara,

I can tell you right now that we are actively looking into the problem so we can find a fix . Unfortunately, it has been rather difficult to replicate the issue. That is why we need a several info to pinpoint the problem. Please provide as much info as you can:

- app version
- where duplicated tasks has been created (on the client where the duplication occurs or on a different client).
- if they have been duplicated immediately after being created of only after the first sync, or even on a later sync.
- if the tasks also got duplicated on other clients
- if both tasks got completed after completing one of them, and if it occurs immediately, or only after syncing.

We're hoping that with these added information, we'll be able to shed some light as to why tasks are being duplicated.

Sorry for the inconvenience. If you have any questions or concern, feel free to post it here.

Best Regards,

With regard to your first question, the app version for my iPhone and iPad is 8.2.1. I was using the Firefox add-on (v. 3.7 with automatic updates checked), but that's really messed up. It shows completed tasks as overdue for weeks. So I then had to just go to todoist.com in my Firefox browser, and bookmark the site. That's what I use when I'm on my PC.

I believe I already answered your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th questions in my original post (unless you mean something other than device or platform when you say "client.") To repeat, the problem occurs on all 3 devices (PC-Firefox Browser, iPad, iPhone) and the duplicate entry shows up immediately.

In response to your last question, both tasks do NOT get completed. When I check one off, the other task remains open. And the completed task shows up as completed immediately, not just after syncing.

Please let me know when this is fixed. I've been a premium member of todoist for a couple years, but am thinking about looking around for a different task manager. I really like todoist when it works, but I have encountered a lot of problems at times with duplicate tasks, completed tasks showing up as overdue, etc. todoist is supposed to save me time, but if it doesn't work, it's not really helping me. Thanks.

Hi Kara,

Thank you for your reply. I just need to confirm one more question and then I'll pass this to our developers.

- where duplicated tasks has been created (on the client where the duplication occurs or on a different client)

1. iPhone/iPad
2. Web/Desktop app
3. All of the above

I'm having the same issue. I can't be bothered giving all the info but I noticed that if I delete the top duplicated item both entries are deleted (after being synced) if I delete the bottom entry then only the bottom entry is deleted
