Dropbox not working from Windows App

I wonder if this is similar to the existing question about Dropbox not working from the MacOS app?..

From the web interface, I can click to add a note, choose to upload a file as a note, then choose Dropbox as the source location. A popup window lets me navigate my Dropbox account to look for a file.

However, in the latest Windows app (2.6.4.0), I click on the link to choose Dropbox, and a popup window asks me to sign in to Dropbox. So I click on "Sign in", and a window opens in my web browser (Firefox, in case it makes a difference). The URL is https://www.dropbox.com/dropins/login_popup. A red message appears at the top of the page that it cannot find the parent window. There's a sign-in space on the right, but logging in with my Dropbox credentials just leads to another message that "There was a problem completing this request", and the page then refreshes to give me the same login prompt again.

It seems, but I could be wrong, that the app is handling Dropbox authentication as if it were the web interface. It tries to open a jquery dialog to sign in to Dropbox. However I'm not in a browser, so the dialog URL is passed to my default browser instead. However by this point it's lost any DOM connection to the calling "web page" (the app), so can't log me in and pass data to the app.

It is June 03 2014, I see this issue was reported on May 16th. I am having the same issue. I click on the Dropbox link to try to add a file, then, the window asking me to "Sign in to Dropbox to continue" comes up. I click on the Sign in button, and a web browser opens with the Dropbox login page. I have signed in, but I am taken to the same "Sign in to Dropbpx screen to continue". When I try to sign in again, the web page to log in to Dropbox flashes for a couple seconds, and disappears. However, if I open the same browser and navigate to Dropbox, it takes me right into my account (thus indicating that my credentials are correct).

Similar issues are being experienced with Google Drive, I was asked to give Todoist permission to access Google Drive, but then just stays on a blank page saying connecting, no errors or anything.

Sadly we have made no progress with this yet. It has to do with our app and that we are having a few problems with it. We hope we can resolve most of them soon.

+1 for me. I have unfortunately the same issue from the windows app. I just use the webapp for now when I need to link a dropbox file.

Hi all. Where are you seeing links to dropbox and googledrive? I dont have these anywhere... not the web site, not the chrome extension, not android... what am I missing?

Hello K,

Please log into your account at todoist.com, hover over an existing task and click on the "notes" icon. Once there, you'll see an icon at the bottom of the notes window allowing you to attach a file.

David, thanks, found it. I was looking in the business section and tasks there have a chat icon instead of a notes icon... confused me. :)

Glad you've found it :-) Though please note that this works both in notes in private projects as well as in comments in shared projects. Please try to force-reload the page with Ctrl+F5 in case you don't see this option in comments.

I am having the same issues as above with the windows app not connection to dropbox; only getting the sign in page. Has the windows app been fixed or is this functionality still not available in the windows version?

This issue only requires a simple fix and I please ask that you fix this feature soon. I just subscribed to premium but if I cannot work with files in dropbox from the windows client then I feel like what I just bought is not functioning as it said it would. If you assign this task to one developer and ask him to spend at most 2 hours on it, this issue will be fixed. If I can provide any information to assist in getting this issue fixed, please let me know and I will do so.

I am having this same frustration. Which beta version should I download to test? Is the GPU acceleration for those who have independent graphics cards?

This still does not work. It allows me to sign in to my Dropbox account (which the standard version did not), but you cannot actually select an upload a file. Note and file integration is not even close to as advertised. Todoist should frankly take down that feature from their website until it actually works.

It is difficult to sign in to either Dropbox or Google Documents. And the choose button just does not show in the Chrome extension version.

When I try and "Sign in" to Dropbox through Todoist (I have a business and a personal Dropbox, so need to sign into both) I get a blank webpage with no ability to sign in. Same when I try and authenticate Google Docs.
