Issue with Todoist - completed tasks in Android App


Respected Sir,

I am facing some minor issues with Todoist - Android. I do not know, if this is a bug or an issue with my Mobile Software Version.

Grateful to look into this matter.

Todoist on my Android Mobile still shows those old Tasks, which I have already completed (completed long back).

Even if i click on Refresh from the Menu, it still shows those tasks. New tasks created on Web / Windows App, is updated and reminder option also works well. Only issue is if I click on a task as completed from my Windows / Web App, they do not sync well.

My Mobile Details:
Samsung - S4,
OS - Android
Version - 4.2.2 - Kitkat

just for your info, I don't have that problem and my mobile details are the same as yours.

Spotted it last night. Opened up the Android app to organise some work and a couple of tasks I completed on the web version were still showing on Android.

I'm using a Lenovo tablet running 4.1.1.

Hi Ganesh and Jon,

Can you please try logging out and logging back in again and see if that addresses the issue? If not, can you please try re-installing the app and sign back in. Please let me know how it goes.

If you know a way to replicate this issue, please let me know so we can report it to our developers.

Please also make sure to apply the update that have released this week.

now I remember something similar happening to me. I use the web, two phones and a tablet, and keep todoist running on all of them all the time. I forced the apps to close on all the devices individually using the app manager from the device settings menu and restarted them one by one and it cleared up.

Dear Clyde,

Thank you very much. Options that didn't work

1. Stop the Process and restart todoist. - I did a Forcestop and then Restarted the App again. Didn't work - may be it still took the data from the cache in the Internal / SD Card Storage Device.

2. Log off and Log back in.

Trick that worked - Uninstall the whole app. Remove all traces from mobile, folders, files, etc. & Reinstall the App. I used ES File Explorer to search for files (hidden, etc.)

Test I need to conduct and experiment if may be due to these reasons Todoist was not updating the changes made.

1. Previously the app was installed in Phone Storage. When Samsung released a patch and update for moving the apps to SD Card, I moved Todoist to SD Card, to save Phone Storage for emergency use.

Conclusion - May be moving the App from Phone Storage to SD Card, had some issues. Testing the same.

2a. The Todoist update that happens automatically may be was not completely uninstalling the existing app and installing a fresh one. Its just updating the existing files - This is my understanding (correct me if I am wrong).

2b. May be the update that happens has something to do with the app in the SD Card / the app in Phone Storage. May be update actually flushes out existing files / cache in the Phone Storage and not in SD Card. Don't know.

Any suggestions / comments please.

This is the source of the issues as our app is not meant to even be moved to an AD card and can't/won't work correctly when you do this.

Ok, the conclusion is we will have to stick to the option of keeping Todoist like other Important Apps in Phone Storage itself.

Thanks for the update.

But may be the programmers should try to create an alternative, reason being

I have an S4 / S5 or IPhone 5S / high end device with lots of Internal Space - No worries.

The same scenario if my wife has a Samsung Duos / any other Device with low storage space, this may create an issue. I cannot ask her now at this moment to transfer the app to SD Storage, reason - update issues.

So she may have to uninstall some existing app depending on priority and importance, for Todoist to run smoothly on Phone Storage.

Hello Ganesh,

Google is no longer officially supporting moving apps to SD for security reasons so on devices with the latest versions of Android, it's not even an option anymore. Therefore, we will not support it either. There are also some other limitations that prevented us from supporting it at the time this was possible to do on Android (without rooting it).

Yes David,

I agree. I read the article on Kitkat and Android Security plus other Security aspects.

I also noticed it today that after the major upgrade to Kitkat those apps that are installed and working still can switch over between SD and Internal Storage.

Those who have updated their app based on the new rules and policies, the move to SD option is greyed out.

You can proceed ahead and close / lock down this support ticket.
