Hi Nathan,

Which version of Windows are you running and Outlook version? Did you download and install from Todoist.com/outlook and do you have any other extensions installed?

Also if wanting to remove, its in the Add/Remove Programs area, as OutlookTodoist.

Regards,
Brendon.

Hi,

I have the same issue. Installed the plug-in and now Outlook with not even open. Uninstalling fixes Outlook 2010.

Can you provide direction how we can resolve the plugin issues or when an update will be released that works with Outlook 2010?

I'm having the same issue here.

Running Outlook 2007
Only additional Add-Ins are Evernote.

The Todoist extension crashes before I even get to my inbox. Disabling the extension solves the problem.

Not sure if it is related, but the plugin was working great until a new GPO policy was pushed that disabled the Flash addon for IE. That policy has since been removed, but the Todoist addon still crashes Outlook.

Hi Chris,

Are you by chance running Microsoft EMET on your system? You can check task manager for "EMET_Agent.exe" to see if it's active.

I'm receiving EMET errors, shown below, at the same time Outlook crashes with the Todoist plugin.

Application Name: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\OUTLOOK.EXE

Hi Matt,

I am in fact running the "EMET_Agent.exe"

I tried killing the task, and re-installing the Outlook plugin, but it still crashes instantly upon opening.

@Matt Wehnes

I was able to resolve the crashes by uninstalling the EMET agent from the system.

is there an update on this? I would rather not stop using EMET as it is a security feature for my system... But would love to use the outlook plugin if possible.

@Brendon

I am running Windows 7 x64 Professional. The EMET agent seems to be the culprit. With it installed I was unable to launch Outlook with the Todoist plugin.

Chris,

Thanks for that detail. I will pass this along, we have been testing with Windows 8, and I this should help.

Brendon.

Chris,

One more question. What settings do you have in EMET? Default/Maximum?

Brendon.

I have the same problem - using windows 7. Occasionally it all works fine, but most of the time I can no longer open outlook - it just looks like it is opening but never opens. And sometimes when it is opens, I cannot get emails.

Please sort this ASAP as I was planning to get premium

I should say I can resolve the problem by restarting my computer - but end up having to do this repeatedly

Hi Louise,

We're still looking into this problem. Are you running "Microsoft EMET" in your computer also? The fix will hopefully address the problem with the said software.

Clyde

Thanks for looking into this!

Hi Louise,

What version of Outlook are you using? Do you have any anti-virus software running in the background? Try disabling that and see if that helps.

Also, when you're installing the plug-in, are you using an admin account in Windows? Any errors during the installation process?

Regards,

Clyde

Hello. I am having trouble getting the plug in to run as well. When I install it Outlook will not open. It just keeps processing. I can uninstall my xobni plug in and it will work but just now I tried to resize the todoist window and outlook froze solid. Something is wrong with this plug in. It is not playing nice.

I tried to see if I have Emet but I don't see it in services or in task manager.

Also of possible importance is xobni is glichy for a while after uninstalling todoist and reinstalling xobni.

I have uninstalled Xobni completely. After a couple restarts I haven't had any freezing when re sizing Todoist. It works fairly well at this point but some odd behavior remains such as it will not fully open until I switch from my default pst account to one of my imap accounts. As soon as I swap it will load and work properly.

One additional annoyance I have noticed while using it in Outlook is that it doesn't allow a task reminder to be set to anything except the default 30 minutes. One must swap to the desktop app or go online to change the reminder to a different minute selection.

Brendon,

Sorry for the long-delayed reply.

I resolved this by upgrading from Outlook 2007 on WinXP to Outlook 2013 on Win 7 and not reinstalling the ToDoist plugin. Fortunately this was a planned upgrade at work anyway, and we were able to move up the upgrade schedule.

My need to access my outlook without crashes far outweighs my desire to use the ToDoist Outlook Plugin.

Thanks for taking the time to look into this, and having an active support program. Looks like this was a fairly common problem.

Regards,

NB

I am adding my name to the list of affected users; I too bought the premium version for this feature, I did a lot of research to find the best "to-do" app, and the outlook add-in put todoist over the top.

I, unfortunately, have both EMET and McAfee installed due to corporate security measures, and would have 0% chance doing anything to their settings because of the size of my company. It takes an act of god/congress to get through all that red tape.

I will keep the premium version but would just be extremely happy ^_^ if the outlook add-in started working correctly.

FYI, attached is a screenshot of what happens with the add-in enabled, I can't even get in outlook.

I am having the exact same issue as Justin. I also have EMET and McAfee installed, and unfortunately cannot uninstall/alter either due to corporate restrictions.

Is there still going to be a new Outlook plugin released that fixes the EMET issue? If so, can you provide an ETA? Even if you said, "within a month", "within a year", or "within 10 years", it would be helpful.

The non-working outlook plugin seams to be open for nearly a year now, reported in a large number a threads in this forum. Friendly support team apologizes and ask to wait for update, but also admits that they are still looking for a new hire for outlook.
@Todoist team, please take this serious, escalate to management and get this fixed, a smart outlook plugin it is a huge part of the experience, and apologies alone do not help customers. Customers with outlook pluging are most likely nearly all premium customers!
