Problem with dates

I've been having this problem where my dates are (seemingly) arbitrarily switching days after i've entered the task.

For example, i enter a task that i want due today, and then a little while later i come back and i see that the task deadline is all of a sudden tomorrow. Another time, I add a task with a deadline "Every tuesday", click save, and it immediately syncs and saves the task with a deadline with a recurring wednesday. Clearly not what i wanted! The even odder thing is that when i click to edit it again, when it opens up the edit field it says "every tuesday" in the edit field, i save again, and it saves as recurring on wednesdays.

This may (or may not) have something to do with my date and time settings since every time i sign on it says "would you like to switch to GMT -700" (I'm on GMT -500)

This has happened on my gmail app and my desktop windows app, but i haven't been able to recreate this issue on the web interface. Any insights?

Thanks in advance. I love this program!!

Hi Michael,

Yes it's caused by your timezone. Please make sure that Todoist.com's settings (top right gear icon), your desktops settings and anywhere else you use Todoist are all on the same timezone.

If it asks you to change it, there is a good reason for this, otherwise issues such as this can happen.

Is there a reason it thinks its -700 if you are indeed -500? Have you recently changed timezones, or anything such as this.

Hi Brendon,

Okay, Yes. I recently changed from Pacific time to GMT -500. I cleared my browser cache and my cookies, and it appears that that may have done the trick. I'll follow up if the problem happens again, but so far so good.

Thanks for your rapid reply!

Sadly, the problem has recurred! It's appearing now again asking me to chagne my time zone and when i put in a deadline, it changes again after save.

Can you be more specific and indicate where exactly Todoist pulls its time zone information from? I checked my system clock and it's on GMT -500 time. Is it pulling time zone information from anywhere else as well?

Thanks again,

Yes, your desktop settings (the clock area) and Todoist.com's settings page, top right corner, gear icon, Settings, General.

If you use a mobile with Todoist as well, it's settings. It only asks if it thinks you are in that timezone, at least it should. Though it can get confused after changing timezones, not accepting the change and then changing back.
