creating new filters

NC

I would like to create a new filter that shows all tasks that are MORE than 7 days out - for example, tasks that are scheduled for one month from now. I have played with few options - nothing - I am sure it is something simple. Please help.

Hi Neal,

To be clear, you want to see all tasks that are coming up/due up to a month from now? You can also search/filter for any amount of days, so "30 days" will show you all those tasks.

Brendon.

Hi Brandon,

Thanks so much for the quick reply. Yes, I would like to see all tasks that are coming up/due that are beyond the '7 days' already captured in the current filter - and go out indefinitely. I had referenced '30 days' just as an example of a time period beyond the '7 days'. I did just try your suggestion of '30 days' - it worked perfectly - giving me a snapshot of 30 days from today forward. I would like '30 days' [or any unlimited time frame going forward] that starts after the '7 day' period. Thanks so much!!

Neal,

I am not sure what you are asking then. As you said, the 30 days worked. You can search for any amount like that. Are you asking to change the menu item 7 Days to a custom one? As that is not possible.

After the 7 days period, so you want a view that is 7 days, plus 30? You can just search for 37 days. If you mean 30 days, excluding the first 7 days, not possible at this time.

Regards,
Brendon.

Hi Brandon,

Thanks for the reply - yes, I was asking about view a period of time - 30 days, 50 days, whatever - that starts AFTER the 'Next 7 Days'. I under stand that is not possible at this time. It is mentioned in the filters help that you can use a boolean search - therefore, I would think you could write a boolean query that would work?? No?? Thanks again.

Hello Neal,

That's indeed not possible. If you don't mind including the next 7 days, you can save a filter for "50 days" or "200 days" as many as you want.

If you can't have the next 7 days in this view, you could try to set this query:

100 days & !overdue & !today & !tomorrow & !+2 & !+3 & !+4 & !+5 & !+6 & !+7

Since Todoist recognizes dates such as "+5" meaning 5 days from now, if you exclude the next 7 days from now, it should work.

Best regards,
David

Hi David,

Thanks so much for your follow up email. I did try the query you included in your email - copied it and pasted it in the '+ Add Filter' button - unfortunately, it didn't work. Here is the message I received …

No tasks matches your query `100 days & !overdue & !today & !tomorrow & !+2 & !+3 & !+4 & !+5 & !+6 & !+7`.Show examples

Did this work for you? I did check and I do have tasks that are outside of 7 days. Please share your thoughts and directions. Thanks so much !!

Neal,

Thank you for your feedback, you're right, this particular query seems to not work correctly, I'll pass it to our developers.

It seems that the issue is the "100 days" part. You can search for 99 days instead.

Best regards,
David

Hello David,

The '99 days' did the trick - thanks so much!! This will be helpful - let me know if you hear anything from your developers - in the meantime, I'm good. Have a good day.

Hi David,

I am following up our recent exchange re: my request for a custom search - here was your reply and direction - which worked fine, when we initially reviewed this …

Thank you for your feedback, you're right, this particular query seems to not work correctly, I'll pass it to our developers.

For whatever reason - he is not working any longer. Any ideas???

One last thing - I just started to utilize the ability to forward emails to ToDoist to create a task. I followed the directions as to how to do this - and it seems to work. However, the info states that the body of the email will be put into notes - AND IT IS NOT. There is nothing that is in notes. Can you help me on this. As you might imagine - having the body of the email in the notes would be very helpful. I'll look forward to your reply.

Hello Neal,

Reg. the email issue - we're looking into this, it's a known bug and we'll soon adjust the mailer on our end so it won't cut off the content in some cases.

As for the filter issue - I can't reproduce it. I've typed 99 days into the search bar and it shows results. Please clarify how exactly does it not work for you - do you see no tasks at all, no tasks but empty day headers, an error message?

Best regards,
David

Hello David,

You are correct! The '99' filter does work - I just had nothing in the 'past 7 day' slot. Thanks so much!! I'll look forward to getting the email/note thing fixed. Thanks for all.
