Edit notes?

JB

Maybe I am missing something, but I can't just see how I can edit a note. This applies to Outlook App, Android App, Windows App and Web.

My query comes as I forwarded an email to the Inbox of Todoist and then realised that there was some unnecessary information from the email which ended up in the note.

It would seem a reasonable feature to have?

I have just read on your help page for Notes it says that Notes can be edited. Sorry the method is not obvious.

Hello Julian,

It's different on different platforms. On the web and all our plugins (and the Windows app), you have to click on the note icon, then, in the note window, you can hover over any note that you've added and you will see a pencil icon to edit it and a trashcan icon to delete it.

On Android, tap on a task with a note, go to "Notes", then tap on the note you want to edit and use the pencil icon in the top-right corner.

Please note that you can only edit the notes that you have added. So in a shared project, you can't edit someone else's comments.

Best regards,
David

Howdy,

I mostly use the Windows app. I often use the notes function to paste in the contents of emails relevant to the task at hand. For a long time I just assumed that notes were not editable (or deletable), which really annoyed me.

Then, I started using notes for other things, and I was like, Oh!, how did I miss these little edit and delete icons.

Well, I missed them because they do not exist on notes that I cut-and-paste from a text document. Is this because of the length of the note? Or because of some formatting? I don't know, and I don't have time to try 10 different variations until I find out what causes this.

But, I would very much like it fixed. I would like to be able to edit and/or delete notes, no matter how long they are or what the contents of them are.

I just used the web-app, and this problem does not exist. The very same note that is not editable in the Windows app *is* editable in the web app.

Thank you very much for your attention to this matter.

Hi Nathan,

I just pasted this whole thread in a note and I still got the "edit" icon (pencil icon). Are your emails longer than this? Are you using the desktop app? Or are you using it in the browser directly? If you are, which browser are you using (Firefox/Internet Explorer/Chrome/Safari)?

Clyde

This problem occurs with pasted notes that are shorter than this thread.

From my orignal post, "I mostly use the Windows app."

Also from my original post, "I just used the web-app, and this problem does not exist. The very same note that is not editable in the Windows app *is* editable in the web app."

Hello Nathan,

Please go to C:\Users[username]\AppData\Local\Todoist\Windows and delete the "Cache" folder there. Then, reload the Windows app and see if the issue persists.

David

Any chance of more space for editing notes in the Android version? I've just started using the Android app (I bought a new phone largely because the iOS version wouldn't work any more on my "old" iPod touch). The editing box for notes on the Android version is tiny - on the iPod it would be as big as the text, but in Android it's just a couple of lines, not even as wide as the screen.
