Sync to working


My todoist app on the android is often not in sync.
At the moment I can see 8 tasks in the android app an only 4 on the web and on the windows app.
I do have internet access and manually press the sync menu as often as I want it is not syncing correctly. The todoist icon shows dark black, which I my understanding means it is online.
I'm using the latest version on android.
Any idea what I can do?

What version of Android are you running exactly, 4.4? Also, so you press menu, refresh and nothing happens? If you clear the data for the app (Android settings, apps) does it grab new information.

Also, make sure the Android app is signed into the same account as you are using on the web version.

I'm using version 4.4.2 (HTC One mini).
With your hint it is now working.
The question is for how long...

For me the problem with your proposed solution is that the bulk of my input is on the mobile phone, not on the computer. The reason I like Todoist is that I can suddenly remember I have to do something and immediately note it down, no matter where I am. I don't want to "clear the data for the app" if that means "delete everything you've noted you need to do from the mobile phone". Right now, after a weekend of no updates on the computer, I have exactly 1 task on the computer and a long list of things to do sitting on the app.

Try logging out and clearing the cache for your browser instead of the Android app, and see if they show up.

Hi Brendon
The Android App is now again no longer in sync, the app is missing some tasks.
The windows app and the web are in sync but not the android app.

I cannot clear the cache or the data on the android app all the times.
Could you please have a look on this? Is there a log file where we could see any sync problems.
Without proper synchronization the tool is useless.

I have also had exactly the same issue today. Clearing App data has sorted it. Not something to do on a regular basis please though.

Yes, of course clearing data all the time is not a solution, and that was not what I was trying to state. We are having issues reproducing this issue, though there are many similar issues we are looking into.

Same problem for me. My phone is never in sync with the website. Tasks completed on the site are never completed on the phone. If I clear app data and sign back in the issue is fixed - but only temporarily. On Android 4.4.2

Hi! Same here. I edit the items in the browser version and sometimes the changes do not appear in the Android app until I log out and in again.

Please reinstall the Android app to see if that helps. You shouldn't need to do it every time and if sync issues keep popping up after the reinstallation, please let me know as that might something that we'll need to take a look at.

Had the same issue today: Androis app not in sync, even after pushing refresh button.

Deleting the data on the mobile helped.

I am using Todoist only since a few days, so I don't think that reinstalling the app really makes a different, do you?

Which version of our app do you have installed? And which Android version, this should not be a problem anymore.

I'd do a fresh install even if its recent, there can be issues after new versions.

I have the same problem, so, as suggested, logged out of the mobile app and logged in again. The result is that I have now lost my list from the mobile as it is now the same as the laptop and tablet. This is very annoying!

Hi Simon,

Sorry to hear that. Did your device have time to sync online at all? As in was your mobile device online. There shouldn't be any way this to happen, as it should combine any changes between devices.

I was entering onto my mobile on and off all day yesterday and none of them
appeared on the laptop or the tablet right up until 10 minutes ago. This
happened last week and then it caught up a little later.

I have now tested by entering a task on the mobile and it has synced.

I do love todoist so desperately want it to work.

I'm experiencing the same issue. My todoist inbox on the Android app has 8 tasks and my mac app has none. Both are online.

Hello Patrick,

Please try to log out on both devices, reinstall the Android and Mac app, log back in and see if it helps.
