HIDE Completed Tasks for sub level and parent tasks

Is there any way to HIDE completed tasks in a project? I wouldve assumed this would have happened by default, but the sub-level and sub-sub-level tasks still show.

We do not want to DELETE the completed tasks, we just dont want to see them all populating in our visual.

See screenshot for reference

Sub-tasks will always stay on screen. This is until the parent task is completed, then they will disappear from your list.

I would really like it if I could hide completed tasks from a project, but still be able to find them for my records.

Hi Jim,

As mentioned by Brendon, sub-tasks don't disappear until the parent task is completed. As for the viewing completed tasks, each project should have a "Show completed task" option in the lower right corner of the last task. :-)

Yes, I know. I am asking for a feature enhancement.
I could see how having sub-tasks stick around might be useful, but I think hiding them would be a more common use case.

Agreed - being able to hide completed sub-tasks would be great. This is especially useful if you are using ToDoist for business and have a project thread and only want to see the outstanding tasks but still want to track completed tasks.

Hello Anca,

If you hold the SHIFT key while completing a sub-task, it will no longer be visible in any view, but you will be able to find it on the completed tasks list either if you enter a project and click on the circular icon at the bottom or go to Karma -> View All Completed.

I find it hard to believe that this feature hasn't been implemented yet. No one wants to see a dozen completed tasks, regardless if they are subtasks or parent tasks. It just clutters the screen. Seems like a no-brainer for an program that is exclusively made for managing tasks. Even the most basic task apps for phones are able to hide tasks / subtasks.

Staff - please let us know when the ability to hide completed tasks at any level will be enabled. Thanks.

Hello Marina,

We currently seem to receive more requests from users wanting to see all completed tasks in all views permanently until they manually choose to remove them ;-) We're currently not working on changing this in either way, but we will consider implementing a solution in the future, but given the opposite requests, only as a option.

Hi David,

Thanks for the response. I see that I can hold Shift as I mark a task as
complete to move it to a completed list so that I don¹t have to see it. That
will be an okay workaroundŠat least there is that option!!

Feature Request:

I'd like to hide completed subtasks, too.
There should be an option to do so, project-related.
Would be great.

Thanks for the good work!

I was just about to post for this as the completed subtasks were taking up a sizable chunk of a homescreen widget. Thanks for the SHIFT key tip, an option to actually hide them would be swell though!

I'll add my voice to those that want to hide completed subtasks. It's annoying enough that I may have to give up my premium subscription if I can find something else that allows me to only see those specific items I still have to complete and not the forest of stuff I've already done.

Yes. We need the option to hide completed tasks and sub-tasks. It clutters the view.

Two things I note related to this. One is that the "Delete completed tasks" option no longer does anything. The completed tasks remain. And two, the option to show completed tasks is there. Why not a hide completed tasks option?

Hello David,

Please note that "Delete completed tasks" deletes tasks that are already in the history in this project. That is, if you hold Shift when completing a sub-task to force it to move to the history instead of staying crossed-out, then the option to delete completed will remove it from the project's completed task list.

yeah, I will +1 this request as well. even if you guys don't want it to be the default setting, seems it should be available as an option.

So there's an option to show more completed tasks, but not one to hide them..? (doh) Please add it!

Please, do add the option to hide completed sub-tasks.
Why not implement an option to toggle it on or of? sound pretty straight forward...
This feature is being asked for years now. Please comply...

I'll plus one this one as well. I have a number of shared standing projects.

For now when the list gets annoying during my weekly and monthly reviews. As a work around I am creating a parent task. Moving the completed items I do not want to see to this new parent item. Then completing the parent task. I loose some structure. However I also get these annoying tasks that are slowing down my review out of the way.

Please implement and option hide and show completed tasks.
