dark theme

D

Hey there,

did you ever think about a dark theme for mobile devices, the white standard theme is very bright. I would suggest something like the 2 any.do color schemes.

thank you

Hi dhw,

We're always happy to hear the suggestions of our customers. :-) If you haven't been to the Votebox (https://todoist.com/Vote/) before, it's the place where customer can put their suggestion in and have other Todoist users vote for it if they like it.

Regards,

Clyde

I see Votebox is closed now! :(

I'd like to vote on this request - a dark theme would be awesome, especially when viewing the Todoist homescreen widget. (It'd also match my BlackBerry's other apps, which can switch into dark mode to save battery!)

Lots of widgets give you the possibility to change the background colour or make it even transparent...that would be great for this otherwise great widget/app!

+1 on this aswell

i don't believe the developer time should be wasted on making the app themeable, slower, bigger/bulkier

the apps should work first always, then look nice

having said that, a simple switching from white to black color should not make anything more complex and could improve UI feel much

This is my most important request right now. That is because I tend to rely on widgets and I find the white todoist widget hard to look at... Plus it burns up more battery on Amoled screens than black backgrounds. I use black wallpaper for that reason. Please implement black and transparent themes for the widgets and the app itself ASAP.

Even though I am a Todoist premium subscriber, I am using a Google tasks app for simple tasks because it has a great widget that is available in black and transparent themes. Todoist has a great overall setup and feature set but you need to put some emphasis on usability and user interaction... Lack of "real time" syncing with Google calendar is another example

Definitely a +1 from me as well. I love black backgrounds for widgets.

+1 - Dark/Transparent theme and widget needed. For obvious visual reasons and battery saving. Lets make it happen!

+1, really would love this. As others have mentioned, the default white can be straining on my eyes. I'd hate to switch to another task list app since I love you guys but I got to do what's best for my eyes!

Can we have an official answer? This feature is important and not very difficult to implement.

Pretty much the only reason keeping me from transitioning to Todoist from MyLifeOrganized/ToodleDo is how brutal the white themed widget looks on my home-screen. Fix this, and I can assure you you'll see the development capital invested come back in spades.

You can add a dark theme (and others) using Stylish add-on for Chrome or Firefox. Then search for todoist in the userstyles at userstyles.org and you'll find Todoist Advanced, which has about a dozen themes, including dark themes, and also a fully customizable panel if you want to design your own theme. You can change fonts, font sizes, even add your own custom logo.

On Android, you can add the Stylish addon to the Firefox browser or the Dolphin browser and thereby get the dark themes on mobile too. Probably the same for iOS too.

DISCLAIMER: I wrote the Todoist Advanced stylesheets.

Very nice addition, Mark!

Alas, CSS overrides can't "fix" the mobile apps... any update(s) from todoist staff on this?

Damn I just signed up for Todoist premium thinking it included dark theming! It doesn't! Man this hurts my eyes.

I did the same thing last year and wish I hadn't wasted the money. I've completely stopped using Todoist and did not renew my subscription.

Until a native dark theme is added to the website and Android app, I refuse to use this software and will give Todoist's competitors my business instead. The fact that users have been requesting this feature for years and they still haven't added it has really left a bad impression in my mind. Even if they do add it, I can't take this company seriously and will probably never use their products again.

+1 -- essential for those of us with OLED screens, to minimize battery drain while using the app. Plus, it should be an aesthetic option, regardless of screen type, of course.

Todoist...? Any response, or indication that this is being worked on?

If the heavy-lifting is crowdsource-able, perhaps you could expedite it that way? Yes? No?
