default duration of tasks sent to calendar?

I love that Todoist will send tasks with a specific set time to the calendar (i.e. Tuesday @3PM). However, all these tasks appear with a default duration of 1 hour. Is there any way to tell Todoist to set a unique duration for each of these tasks? I've tried what I could think of, like Tuesday @3PM-5PM, but it still shows up on the calendar as only one hour duration.

Can this be done?

Hi Lone Smith,

Unfortunately there's currently no way of doing this. However, you can submit a feature request in https://todoist.com/Vote/ where other Todoist users can vote for ideas that they like.

Thanks for the info, but sigh. Why is it so impossible for anyone else to have all the features that Life Balance did? If they just hadn't stopped development, I wouldn't be looking for a new organizer now. It's discouraging. And they got started more than 10 years ago. It seems like organizer technology is moving backwards!

Prior to Version 6.1 (326) I was able to send tasks with a specific set time to the calendar (i.e. Wed @2:30PM) and it would display on the calendar correctly, though as mentioned earlier with 1 hour blocked. Thought this was not ideal... at least you could visually see what you had going on for a given day.

However, it seems that since the latest version, I'm NOT able to see the task displayed properly on the calendar. I enter the information as before, but seems like it gets formatted differently and then just displays the given task as an all day event...

If a task has a date/time assigned to it, then it should ALWAYS appear on the calendar relevant to the assigned date/time. NOT as an all day event! However, if a task has NO time assigned to it, then yes it should appear as an all day event.

Furthermore, you should be able to define the start and end time of a given task. This is just basic fundamentals in time management.

Please advise as to why tasks are now NOT appearing on the calendar at their assigned date/time.

Hi Frederick,

So sorry about this. I have now reported this problem to our developers. We'll update you once a fix is available.

As for your suggestions, we'll keep these in mind for future improvement. :)

Here's just a simple idea that could improve user's experience in this subject, without requiring changes in Todoist data model.

I wouldn't care so much about the default 1-hour duration time in exported iCal calendar, if there was assumption that tasks don't overlap. Eg. for two tasks starting at 9:00 AM and 9:15 AM we could assume that the first one will finish after 15 minutes. This could be done entirely during calendar's export, without changes in underlying data.

This would be useful, because such tasks are likely not to be displayed stacked in calendar programs. The attachment shows two approaches: current (on the left) and proposed (on the right) rendered in Thunderbird's calendar.

It's just my 2 cents, thanks for your great work on the product :)
