Why does the ios app always default to the Today view?

R

Is there any way to change the default from anything besides the Today view? I do not use the Today view and I am annoyed that I have to make 3 gestures to get to anything useful to me in this app.

Hi RC,

Assuming you have not closed the app, it should resume from the last place you were at. Though at the moment there is no way to change this. Our other apps sync the Start Page setting at Todoist.com, but we have yet to add this to iOS but are planning it.

Regards,
Brendon.

Hi,

Unfortunately, it is not available yet in our iOS app.

Why has this not been added? I believe the start page worked on iOS in 2013. Why remove this feature?

Is this ever going to get added? I just got an iphone through work and my inability to 1. set a start screen and 2. hide sub-tasks are making me consider switching to a new to do list app. Why is the ios version so much worse than the android one?

Hi,

Just a quick update regarding the requested features here:

1. set a start screen

Start pages will be available in the Todoist 10.

2. hide sub-tasks are making me consider switching to a new to do list app

Expanding/collapsing sub-tasks and sub-projects will be available in the upcoming Todoist 10 update as well. :-)

Just tested start screen in iOS 10 final - seems it doesn't work. First I change in Web option menu my new start settings, then I switch Todoist10 from my iPhone memory and start it new - again the today screen ...

Hello,

Thank you for your report. I can't reproduce this issue so far, though. I double-click on the home screen on the iOS device, swipe Todoist to close, re-open it and it starts on the start page I defined on the web.

Please clarify if these are exactly the same steps that you're doing and if not, what's different?

David

Yes, so I did. But now I see: it works fine with the standard selection of start items - but I choosed in Web "individuelle Abfrage" (= "individual request"?) and had a start page with "@labelxy", which works fine in the Web but not with iOS.

Just downloaded v.10. Hiding subtasks and setting start page working great. And I love the new look. Thank you!

Thank you for this information HerbHert, I've been able to reproduce this now and passed it to our developers. We'll look into it.

This problem now seems to have reversed? I used to enjoy using the "Today" view, and on opening Todoist I could instantly see what I still hade to do today.

Now the IOS app seems to default to the Next 7 days view, so I always have a huge list of things shown as upcoming.

How do I get the original "Today" default back, as I can't see any setting? I don't want to know about tomorrow's tasks, only focus on Today.

Thanks

Hi,

You just need to change the Start Page view in the web as "Today". You can change it by going to Settings → General. :-)
