Windows 8 Phone

I'm a potential new premium user but do you expect an official W8 Phone app shortly? Without such an app it's not working how it used to be. The solution suggested on this platform to use the mobile or regular browser version is not realistic. In case there won't come a W8 Phone app then the conclusion is that todoist is not available for W8 phone users. It's a pity because I think this program really could help me and my company. Please be honest about the short-time expectations of the required app instead of advising to use the browser version.

Hi Robert,

Feel free to vote on the Windows Phone related suggestions in our votebox. http://todoist.com/Vote/

At the moment we are not working on or have any concrete plans to build a Windows Phone app, but we would like to support as many platforms as possible, so it's very possible it will be eventually. Of course, we then can't give any type of ETA for this.

Hi, I've just got a lovely new Nokia running Windows Phone 8. I knew there was no official Todoist app, but I was disappointed to find that I could not get either the full or the mobile web site to work either.

There would be no need for an app if the mobile web site worked with my phone, because it could easily be pinned as a tile on the start screen. However, although it can show me how many tasks are due today, I can't seem to find out what those apps are! I tap on today but nothing happens. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? Are there any instructions?

The full web site won't even give me the option to log in. If I go there via the force full site link I can log in but the formatting goes haywire.

I've had no such problems with other web sites, mobile or otherwise, and generally my impression of Windows Phone 8 is that it is more professional than Android and likely to overtake it for business users.

Hi Simon,

We are looking into issues with the browsers not working on mobile, though we are having issues reproducing that.

There is an un-official app for Windows Phone though, you may want to check it out for the moment. We don't support it, and do not know how well it is done, but may be worth your time. http://www.windowsphone.com/en-ca/store/app/metroist/dc8d3a13-de05-46ec-90c5-e1996abaa81b

Thanks Brendon, I did have a look at that app although I had reservations about using a 3rd party site. It seemed to have some sync problems e.g. I could mark a task as done but when I returned to it, it was undone!

On your mobile site, I found if I tapped anywhere on Today [3 tasks] nothing happened. If I pressed and held on it, a horizontal black line (loading?) appeared then I was given the option to open in a new tab, however the tab was always empty. My best results so far have been in using the main site because it is just about functional enough to read today's tasks and check them off.

I'm using a Nokia Lumia 620 which has downloaded a load of updates from Microsoft so I think it's all up-to-date. I doubt if the browser is fully HTML 5 compliant but Microsoft are really putting their weight behind Windows Phone 8 (not least by buying Nokia!) so I'm sure it will become an important platform quite soon. Despite all their false starts, the Windows compatibility is excellent so I'm sure it will win over a lot of PC users from Android.

And a great challenge because it is not easy to make a top notch GUI (although we can reproduce the one from the iPHone for example)

I am a Windows Phone user myself and as much as I would like an official Todoist Windows Phone app I understand why it's not a priority for the developers. Windows Phone's market share is terribly small, especially compared to Android and iOS. On top of that Windows Phone isn't a growing platform that you can invest in, in fact it's losing ground every single month. Having said that I'm now using the TaskCrunch alternative which works pretty well now, all the features are there and syncs seemslessly and reliably. The TaskCrunch livetile is an excellent feature you don't have on other devices.

Pedro Carreira

Having said this I hope my question does not sound too odd:

--> Am I right that upgrading my Todoist-account to premium would allow me to use those premium features via TaskCrunch on my WP8?

(At the moment I am using a free Todoist-Account on my desktop-PC while most of the time I use the app TaskCrunch on my WP8 wishing to get those premium features.
I did not find any premium-version of TaskCrunch, though.)

Thanks for the help and Grüße from Germany! =)

Hi Neil,

Yes, if you upgrade your account to premium, you will get premium access to the TaskCrunch app as well. :-)

Hello Clyde,

(A little bit after you confirmed it I found those background-infos about TaskCrunch and its programmer now being officially on board of 'Todoist', too.
I do appreciate that!
It's great both hooked up; especially as I love TaskCrunchs dark background! (love) O:-) )

Additional info:

I have just created a transfer-order from my bank-account to PayPal since they would not let me have PayPal do it via debit-order.

When I tried to pay vis PayPals debit-order that payment got interrupted by a message from PayPal saying that a debit-order was not possible.

(Having called PayPals Hotline it turned out that this was alright since it was normal for all new PayPal-customers such as me. (I recently created a PayPal-account in order to upgrade to TodoistPremium since I dont use credit cards which (for me) makes PayPal *the* payment method to go for.)
However, as I got informed at PayPals hotline new customers could only transfer money to PayPal and PayPal would transfer it to the company that customer intentends to buy products from, but there were no debit-orders possible for new 'PayPal'-people. ;)
Now that's no problem for me, this procedure is fine for me too.)

However, after that first interrupted payment-method I received an eMail a while later from PayPal referrig to this Payment-Interruption and it included all the transfer-relevant-infos.)
BUT... in that Mail there was this suspicious part:

" (...) Bitte überweisen Sie den ausstehenden Betrag von 23,00 EUR an PayPal. PayPal leitet das Geld dann umgehend an PayPal weiter. (...)"

In English: " (...) Please transfer the owed amount of money of 23,00 Euros to PayPal. PayPal will imediately transfer the money to PayPal (...) " ?? :-S

Well ... correct me if im wrong, Clyde, but aren't they supposed to send the money to YOU guys, not to themselves?! Makes not much sense to me. :-D
Well, guess that's just an odd mistake in writing in that automatic message. And I am going to find that out tomorrow as now there is noone available anynmore at PayPals German hotline that late at night.

But you guys should let me know in case you did not receive the money soon. so I could contact PayPal to find out what went wrong.
IF something would go wrong.
But probably all will be fine! ;-)

Best regards und viele Grüße,

I can see that the payment went through so everything should be fine. :-)

Hi Clyde,

great it worked. ;)

Eventually it turned out that PayPal actually DID do a debit-order - despite the error-message saying 'no debit-order available' and the Hotline-Info that it would not be a valid payment method for new PayPal-customers.

The other guy at the hotline did not know why PayPal did do a debit-order, but anyway:
You guys got the money,
I am happy
and you and me are just a few steps away from a great weekend!

Have a good time and thanks for all your help. ;-D

Hello Support-Team,

I have been creating a new thread where I've sent a question a while ago.
I don't seem to get no answer there, though.
So I am asking here for help/advice/info about what's going on.

Link to the thread:

Feel free to post answers related to my question right here OR in the thread linked above as I am keeping an eye on both threads.

Best Regards,

Hi Neil,

So sorry for the delay. We've actually assigned your question directly to our Windows developer and we're still waiting for his feedback.

I have now followed-up with him now to review your question and we're hoping to hear back from him soon.

Really sorry for the inconvenience!

When on earth are we going to be able to sub. to individual threads in this forum;
Instead of having to remain subscribed to several threads at once -or none.

I want to unsub. from this thread, but there's 1 or 2 others I still want to receive email for when there's a new post.

Hi Clyde,

thanks for your quick info about having contacted Jan.
As soon as I've seen that response of yours I was fine because then I knew my question has been acknowledged and the solution would be just in the making. :-)

Thank you! Just installed it and seems to work nicely...How can I rearrange the order of projects in the projects view? It's quite important as we use TD with quite a large number of smaller projects and I used to move the more important ones to the top of the list. Any suggestions? Cheers S.

Hi Sebastian,

Sorry for the delayed reply! According to our developer, that scenario is not supported in the app. We will be supporting it in of the version 1 of our Windows 10 app though.
