Hi, i want to email tasks to the inbox, how do I find my email address? Thanks Ian
Open up the Inbox, in the top right there is a wrench icon, then Email Tasks To This Project.
Startlingly quick. Thanks very much.
I've tried several task systems before and none of them "took". This is great though, I'm in!
I'm having issues with the email task functionality. Doesn't seem to be working. I've emailed directly from my gmail account and tried via TaskClone using their Evernote to Todoist functionality. Nothing.
I've forwarded an email to the inbox but nothing happening so far, how long might it take?
Relax everyone, it's showed up : )
Make sure that all address' are within the accepted list (Right Click Project, Email Tasks To This Project). Taskclone might use a different address each time, so you will need to use a wildcard *address.com.
Hmm. TaskClone is supposed to send the task to Todist using my authorized email address. Still, why wouldn't the task end up in my task list when I send it directly from the gmail account I have on file with Todoist?
It seems to be working now. I tried redoing everything from removing and adding email addresses ion Todoist to re-applying tags and such in Evernote. Something fixed it. Hopefully it'll keep working.
Is there a way to post a daily recurring task?
Yes. If you add it directly through the web, go to the due date field and type "every day" or "every Friday at 2pm" or any date from this page: https://todoist.com/Help/DatesTimes
If you're sending the task via email, type <date everyday> within the subject or the body of the message.
I can't seem to open these attached jpg's, they just come up like this
Please tell me, what happens exactly when you click on a link to a JPG attachment? Also, does the name of the file contain any special characters, especially # ?
Hi. Id also like to add tasks by email. I don't see the wrench icon in inbox on my android phone.
Also, is there an easier way to delete due dates than with the keypad delete keypad?
To add emails as tasks, please log into your account directly at todoist.com on the web, then right-click on a project and choose "Email tasks to this project". In case of the Inbox - enter it, then click on the pencil and wrench icon at the top of the list and select the same option.
There's unfortunately no other way to remove a due date from a task than to manually delete it.
OK. Thx for your reply.
Hi. After installing IOS 8 ToDoist seems crashes on my iPad most times try
to delete a task. Thx
Please try re-installing the iOS app. If it does indeed crash still, can you give us the steps on how to reproduce the problem?
Will do. Thx.
my current problem is, that the todo gets created with the subject, but the body (html email) is not created as a note to the todo ;-((
what´s wrong ?
Please tell me, you right-click on a project, go to "Email tasks to this project", send the email to this address and it arrives as a task, but without a note?
Does the email contain an attachment bigger than 10 MB, is the attachment a TXT file? Is it an HTML-formatted email? Does it have a fixed signature? And finally, does this affect any email you send or just some?
first of all, i use thinderbird. the "sending email" settings are switched to "html only".
i tried a lot today and here´s what i have found out:
- forwarding a html email with only a few html word, like <b>test</b> creates a note
- sending a new email (html, but without *ANY* formattings) creates a body
- forwarding an email with a table inside (see screenshot) does not create any notes
after updating the "sending settings" to send always a plain/text email together with the html part, a note gets created, but *ONLY* if a text/plain part is available next to the html part of the email.
maybe this fixes my problem with thunderbird, but *NOT* with any other email client.
my android email client does not support these functions, emails are plain/text or html,
but i am not able to send both in one email. and i believe my colleagues, using ios, iphone and the other i-stuff, will have the same problem -_-;
to your question:
- no attachment
- 99% of business emails are *only* html, so i am speaking about html only
- *every* email with a html table does not create a note (as far as i could test this)
for example: when forwading an html email, thunderbird creates a table, in the body, please take a look to the attachment, what you see is pure html.
every email, containing this part - won´t create a note at todoist.
and there is no chance (as far as i see) to forward an html email as plain/text.
but that´s the default body when forwarding an email. so you see, this is a big problem ;-((
here is the html part of the screenshot, so you can see what´s beeing created when forwarding an email in thunderbird: http://tny.cz/857f192e
Thank you for this information, I'll pass it to our developers and we'll look into adjusting our mailer to include the body in these cases. Sorry for the inconvenience.
thanks, i am looking forward to see a solution here, because the feature itself is great, but with this html problem, useless.
btw... i would like to mention that there is another problem with german umlauts, as far as i have seen, "äöüß" are characters where the encoding fails while displaying these at the notes... please forward this problem, too.
The issue with Umlauts can be addressed by setting the encoding of outgoing mails to Unicode.
the kind of setting you are speaking of is something, you cannot change or set in a regular normal app, like android or iphone (default mail client)... detecting the correct encoding is something - that hat to be done - by the recipient, by todoist. and by the way, the encoding of a forwarded email should be the same like the original, so the todoist user who forwards the email, cannot influence this - so please understand, this needs to be done correct by you.
To clarify - of course I have passed it to our developers and we'll look into it, that was just a suggestion for now, as a workaround (if possible in certain email clients) ;-)
ok, thanks ;)
