Todoist has Hijacked my homepage in firefox?

No matter what I do... Todoist always ends up as my HOMEPAGE in firefox.

If I change it to gmail (or anything else) it reverts back to todoist.com the minute I close and relaunch the browser.

This is the second time. Last time I fixed it my uninstalling firefox and doing a fresh install.

It's almost as if Todoist is forcing itself as my homepage for more use! HA!

Annoying... but a little funny.

Though any solution would be appreciated.

Thank you./

Hi Jay,

It's quite odd. As Todoist does not change your homepage, has no access to that information whatsoever. Did you install the extension, or just using the web version? Have you installed any other extensions?

As you said last time a fresh install worked, so what did you recently add to Firefox when this started happening?

Yes, quite odd. Never installed any extensions.
Just using the web version. I did set ToDoist.com
as my homepage at one time.

Last time when I uninstalled and reinstalled I had
to dump all the bookmarks. That worked.

This time, I saved the bookmarks (exported).

uninstalled, then reinstalled. Imported bookmarks.
Wa-Hey! Todoist.com is my homepage again.

Strangest thing ever.

Guess I'll have to reinstalled and rebuild bookmark
file from scratch. I don't have many so... it could be worse.

Well that shouldn't be needed, and is quite drastic to fix a problem. Though, within your bookmarks, is Todoist within it's own folder, maybe one set as the Homepage area?

Jay - is it possible that you have Firefox to open the last page open rather than open your homepage? It's under Options, in the Options window, on the General tab. There is a "When Firefox starts" option - make sure it's set to Show My Home Page.

I believe I referenced this in the original post but...

Despite setting the HOMEPAGE to Gmail (or anything else)
it always defaults to todoist.com once I close the browser
and reopen it.

However, if I change the homepage it WILL WORK during
that whole session until the browser is closed and reopened.

Hope this clarifies the question.

Appreciate the support VERY much.

Hello Jay,

As Mike said, are you sure that you don't have Firefox set to show your last opened page on startup? Todoist really does not do this. In fact, it's not capable of doing so, we've never programmed it to do something like this, it's either an issue on Firefox's end or maybe one of your plugins. Do you use any plugins to manage pages, tabs, sessions or anything?

Best regards,

OK, I appreciate the support but...

... it seems many responding are failing to R-E-A-D
the details of the thread for full clarification.

Again, this is what's going on.

No matter what I change my homepage to....

...todoist.com always ends up as the default ONCE
the browser is closed and relaunched.

The homepage can be set to Google... the default page etc.

And... it is NOT set to return to the last page visited.

And... even if it did... it's NOT the last page visited
after I change it and return.

I've given up on it anyway.

But thought I would post in case it has happened
to anyone else.

My computer guy here in the office says

"That's weird. you just need to reinstall
like you did last time."

He saw it the first time it did it by the way.

His comment was "Hey, maybe it's a bug to force you
to use todoist as your homepage!"

Again, I give up on it. Just a bummer as I just paid for
premium a few months ago.

Thanks again to everyone helping.

I read all your relies and in neither of them have you mentioned that you do not have FF set to open the last page visited. I've asked this because you didn't mention it after Mike asked either. When debugging any issue, we really need a clear confirmation of something like this to identify the cause of this issue, we can't make assumptions. It's the first report of such issue ever, therefore every detail matters.

We're sorry that you've given up on Todoist because of that, you can receive a full refund if you've paid within the last 30 days. To do so, send us the order reference ID of your payment.

Best regards,

It is set to SHOW MY HOMEPAGE.

BTW - the other options are

and then

HOMEPAGE is how it's set.

Also, there are NO PLUGINS regarding Todoist.com

I run about as naked a Firefox as can be.

Anything else I can do to help. Let me know.

Don't worry about the refund.

Consider it a donation.

The app is awesome.

You guys are awesome too (and that's no bs).

Please type about:config in Firefox, then search for the word override and tell me - do you see any URL in the "startup.homepage_override_url" property?

You could also try to search for "todoist" there in case there's a Todoist URL specified anywhere else.

Best regards,

Great IDEA!

Will do and get right back to you.

Startup override is there but value is NULL.

However, I searched "todoist" and string comes up for
browser.startup.homepage with value as todoist.com

That did NOT work.

Tried changing to GMAIL.com

That did NOT work.

The only stuff I run for cleaning is

Advanced System Care
CC Cleaner

Since spyware usually hijacks homepages...

obviously, I think advanced system care is running
something to default it.

Let me look into ASC and I will update in a minute.

For anyone who experiences this issue.

Advanced System Care 7.1 Pro has a feature called

The Default Setting is "ON".

When set to "ON" your homepage CANNOT be changed
by spyware or you.

In order to change, you must turn the setting to OFF.

Change your homepage.

Then you can turn it back ON.

Problem solved.

Thank you!

Thank you for that information, it is very useful to know about.

Yes, kind of crazy...

...especially with the estimated

Number of advanced system care users!
