filters :to_others

Filter ":to_others" doesn't work properly.

I have many tasks assigned to others and they don't all display when i press this filter.

Hello Cyril,

Please note that the correct syntax for this filter is:

:to_others:

That is - no quotation marks and two colons - one at the front and one at the end. Is that what you see in the search bar when using this filter?

Best regards,
David

I knew the good syntax and i actually hit the pre-set filter.

It still doesn't return all of the tasks that are assigned to others.

Cyril,

- If you delete, and re-create the filter, does it work?
- If you just search for that, does it work?

Does this only occur on the Mac App, or browsers as well?

Regards,
Brendon.

Brendon,

- If you delete, and re-create the filter, does it work?
---No

- If you just search for that, does it work?
---I search for a word in the task, and it works. (it is assigned to someone)
---then i press the filter :to_others: and the task doesn't appear

Does this only occur on the Mac App, or browsers as well?
---on mac app : doesn't work
---on web app : doesn't work
---on ios : ??? as you probably know, we can't search for task (yet) !!!

Best regards.

Hello Cyril,

We've found an issue that may cause this problem if the tasks has been created by someone else than you and assigned to someone else by the task creator. Is that the case?

Hello Cyril,

The :to_others: filter shows tasks that you have assigned to other people, not tasks that are assigned to others by others. For that, please use the :all: filter option.

We will modify the description on our help page to clarify that.

David

Thank you for your answer.
The :all: filter doesn't seem to do what i want.

What i want is to be able to see all the tasks that are assigned to someone else. Doesn't matter if i have assigned them or if they have been assigned by somebody else.

Cyril,

That's not possible right now, but we'll consider adding such option in the future. You're welcome to request it in our Votebox: https://todoist.com/Vote/

I created a votebox.

However, i'm not sure everybody will find it that useful.

I think it's pretty easy. create a filter called :others:

I'm managing a company and i find it interesting to check what's going on.

This would be so useful! I manage several companies as well and being able to see the tasks everyone has is key to management. I vote yes a billion times for this feature!

I think this feature will be useful as well. I faced the same problem today. Would really want a complete summary of all tasks assigned to others in the team without me having to create / assign every single task.

I was trying to create a filter
:to others: & 14 days

Shayan,

As mentioned by David, :to_others: actually shows you tasks YOU assigned to other users and not the tasks that are assigned to other users. Could this be why it's not showing you the correct tasks?

Clyde

:to_others: works correctly. The issue I am getting is when I create a filter
:to_others: & 14 days

It shows no results, even for tasks that I created and assigned to other people.
I just created and assigned a task to someone for tomorrow.

It shows: No tasks matches your query `:to_others: & 14 days`.

I have ToDoist Business. We have multiple projects managed by multiple team members. Being able to see what tasks are assigned to each team member is a vital function for me. The :all: command is a crude workaround and not very helpful when we have multiple tasks.

Any chance this is a coming feature?

Also in our little team wie need this function: Each of us adds tasks to Todoist an sometimes assignes one to him/herself. We thought to see with the assigned to filter who ist doing what, but thats not the case. It would be even better to filter by each person separately to see which tasks are assigned to her (by me, herself and others, provided shared projects first of course).

Do you think this could be possible?

I think it is definitely a necessary update to see the tasks that are assigned other people (by me or someone else) . I personally would like to see the task assigned to specific user as well.

I hope this feature comes soon.

I'm having an issue where :to_others: is only showing ten tasks. I assigned all the tasks to one other user, so they should all pull, correct? Is this an issue because I'm Premium and she's on Free?

Hi Elizabeth,

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with this. This filter should show all the task that you(!) assigned to other people whether they are free or Premium users.

How many tasks that you assigned to that person are not showing up? Is it anything special about them? Please make sure that those tasks are not completed by that person yet.

Galina

I've attached screenshots of what I'm seeing. All the tasks are recurring and are due today; she hasn't completed any of them. (And even if she had, wouldn't the next occurrence show?) I can't see that there's anything different about the two that aren't showing. (The labels were another attempt to pull a list of all her projects; unfortunately either labels don't pull on tasks that aren't yours, or labels won't pull on a free user's tasks.)

I'm really hoping to get my office to use this for our collaborative projects and being able to pull lists of others' tasks would be a huge point in todoist's favor!

Hello Elizabeth,

Please confirm - were you the person who assigned all these task to your colleague or did she assigned any of these tasks to herself or did someone else make the assignment?

Can you see these missing tasks if you search for:

:all: & today

David

I was the person who assigned the tasks. I even un-assigned them and re-assigned them to make sure that didn't fix it.

:all: & today DOES show me them but has the drawback of showing me all my crap, too. It's the workaround I'm currently using but it's obviously inelegant.

Elisabeth,

That's very unusual. Please try to remove and reinvite your colleague to this project and see if it helps.

We've had some serious sync issues related to caching and sharing recently and even though they were fixed a couple of days ago, it may be necessary to reinvite people into projects. I'm unsure if the issue you're experiencing is related, but if you wouldn't mind trying this (removing and re-inviting your colleague), please do so and let us know if it helps.

David

That didn't fix it either. I did, however, find out what was causing it, and it's crazy -- I wasn't the creator of the project itself. I had made it on my personal todoist account before I decided to make an account just for work. I shared the project with my work account, then left the project on my personal account. I exported the tasks in the current project to a template, created a test project, shared it, imported the tasks, assigned those, and voilĂ , the filter now works.

So either not being the creator of the project itself or having the original creator of the project leave seems to be interfering with the filter. I'll just go with my fix for now.

Hi Elizabeth,

Sorry about that. It seems that when you left the project, you then didn't rejoin it. To be able to see the tasks, you have to be a part of the project.

Anyway, it great that now everything is working fine. Please let us know if you run into any issues in the future.

Galina

Well, the problem is that me on Account A created the project. Me on Account B joined the project; Account A left. Account B assigned the tasks; Account B couldn't see the tasks. If you assign tasks to others, shouldn't you always be able to see them?

Hi Elizabeth,

That's right, as soon as you are part of a project, you should be able to see the tasks. We are not sure why that issue happened. If this occurs again, please let us know.

Sorry about that!

Galina
