Airmail + Todoist

I was wondering if there is a way to sync airmail with todoist. I love todoist and I love airmail and so, please tell me there is a way to make them work together?

thanks!

Hello Sailaja,

Unfortunately, that's not available yet, but we'll consider adding such option in the future and you're welcome to vote for this request in our Votebox: http://todoist.com/Vote/show/7775/

Best regards,
David

I'd really like this feature as I find Postbox too resource-heavy as a mail client.

Airmail is the killer app for mail clients. Please consider creating an extension there. Thanks, L.

Yes please. I have been searching for a long time for both task manager and mail client and took Mike Vardy's great advice on both. I'd love to see these 2 programs come together.

An extra special request - I may be alone in this, and my suggestion may be due to my ignorance, but I like the way Todoist appears as a pane in Firefox and Postbox as opposed to hovering as it does in chrome. Pinning it to a separate tab in chrome doesn't work well either since I have to switch between panes instead of having a single unified view.
The unified view would be ideal for me since I can work on my email and see my tasks being updated without having to setup windows or switch between tabs. (I use firefox largely now because of this feature)

Here's an IFTTT recipe I wrote to send emails from Mailbox to Todoist. Mailbox lists show up as labels in gmail and in Airmail. The recipe makes the task due today and adds a label for @email.

Hi All,

Looks like a plugin is now available for download!

http://support.airmailapp.com/post/105343062118/todoist-plugin

Here are some instructions:

Airmail 1.4:
https://airmail.tenderapp.com/help/discussions/airmail-plug-in-beta/62/r?go=aHR0cHM6Ly9naXRodWIuY29tL0Fpcm1haWwvQWlybWFpbF9QdWJsaWMvaXNzdWVzLzYwMg==

In Airmail 2:

1) Download the plugin (ToDoIst.bundle)
2) Open Airmail and click Window > Show Plugins Folder...
3) Copy the file to your plugins folder
4) Enable the plugin by clicking Window > Plugins and selecting the checkboxes next to the plugin
5) Enter in your ToDoIst email address & press 'Get Token'
6) The API key should be populated.
7) Press 'Save Changes'

I could only verify Airmail 2.0 (Version 2.0.2 (284))

Cheers,
Rich

In testing the plugin, it seems like all it does is copy the subject line of the email to your Todoist inbox. Am I missing something?

I just get 'Error when creating view" when I copy the bundle to the plugin directory and restart...

It does look like the only functionality so far is copying the subject line.... at least its a step in the right direction.

I had the same experience with the plugin.

If the developer is on the list, is this something he would want to collaborate on?

Having the subject line come over is helpful and there is so much more that would be helpful, i.e. labels, message content, attachments, assigning it to a project, a link back to the original email, etc. And tying the plugin directly to the todo functionality already in airmail.

Was so excited to finallly see the plugin...

Downloaded the plugin and installed in plugins, enabled, but do not
have step 5 and 6 availble on my screen. They do not exist, and
do not know where to look. Also, now anytime I start Airmail (i'm using 2.0)
i get the same error message as above-- error when creating view-- any ideas
what I'm doing wrong? OS is 10.9.5

5) Enter in your ToDoIst email address & press 'Get Token'
6) The API key should be populated.

Laslty, as regards functionality, as someone suggested early in this thread, the way
PostBox does it would be perfect and the most useful.

Thanks for your email. I check messages 2-3 times per day in order to fulfill my work obligations and avoid distraction from that work. I will get back to you fairly soon but if you need my attention immediately, you can reach me here:

Be sure to store this link with my contact information in case of an emergency where email is warranted. If you have another way to reach me that I've provided for you (phone number to text or call me, direct messaging through slack or Twitter), then that will also notify me much faster than my regular email inbox.

Again, thank you for your correspondence. Rest assured, I do review every email I receive and will be in touch shortly.

Can you help me.   To get this working for me, it asks for my email and password (Todoist sign on), but I use my Gmail for Todoist sign on and it did not work.

I need whatever to get the API key to get Todoist functioning in Airmail.  Thank you,

I have successfully installed the Todoist Airmail plugin, but I don't know how to use it? How do you add a Todoist task from Airmail to Todoist?

Brendon Wadey  staff
Replied on Feb 04, 2015 - 18:51 UTC

Hi Max,

You will have to go into Todoist.com in the gear icon in the top right, Todoist Settings and under Account add a password. You will then use the normal Email/Pass sign in method.

Brendon

When I add an email as a task from Airmail to the Todoist inbox they are a little ugly. I don't know if that is how they were designed to appear or if it is an Airmail plugin bug?
