Setting annual and monthly recurring tasks

C

I can't seem to create recurring tasks that set annually or monthly. I've tried:

"every year after 1 Feb"
"annually after 1 Feb"
"every 1 year after 1 Feb"

AND

"every 2 months after 1 Feb"
"every 4th saturday"

None of these works. Is Toodoist capable of these settings or is my syntax incorrect?

Regarding the annual issue, I suppose I could say something like:

"every 365 days starting 1 Feb" - think that would work, but that seems awkward given what toodooist appears to be able to understand.

Hello chilwin,

To set recurring dates for your tasks, you can use:
every 12 months starting 1 Feb - completing this will result in a due date 12 months from 1 Feb
after 12 months starting 1 Feb - completing this will result in a due date 12 months from the completion date

every 2 months starting 1 Feb - completing this will result in a due date 2 months from 1 Feb
after 2 months starting 1 Feb - completing this will result in a due date 2 months from the completion date

every 4th saturday - could you please try this again, it should work just fine but please let me know if doesn't

Hello,

Aside from what Aygul mentioned, you can also use "every 1 Feb" or "ev 12 May" for annual dates :)

David

Hi Matt,

You can do "ev second saturday" but not specific to March.

Anna,

How exactly does it not work? I just tried "every 2 months starting may 10" and it works as it should.

Regards,
Brendon.

Every time I try to put it I got answer: "Nieprawidłowa data" which means "invalid / incorrect date".
Maybe it's problem of my native language? But other options which I put in, work in both language (polish and english).

Hello Anna,

Assuming that you're using Todoist in Polish, I've added a task with this due date (as shown on our help page):

po 3 miesiącach początek 10 kwi

I then also tried:

po 2 miesiącach początek 1 lut
po 2 miesiącach pocz1 lut
po 2 mies pocz1 lut

and all of them were accepted as valid dates. Please clarify what exact text (copy/paste it) are you entering into the due date field while having Todoist set to what language in the setting?

Best regards,
David

(How) is it possible to have a repeating task for the first wednesday of every other month?

What I want is the first Wednesday in Jan, March, May, July, Sept, Nov

I've tried 1st Wed of every 2 months starting 7 Jan (and a few variations), but it doesn't understand me

Julie,

Its not possible at this time. You can have "every first wednesday" but not for every other month.

Brendon

Adding the option for something like this, will be great "every 2nd Sunday of March".

An example where someone might use it is to change all their clocks each year. If I were a premium user, then I would have a list of all the clocks to change ... because I can never remember all of them like the clock on our digital camera or the clock on our programmable thermostat ... that I just realized this morning wasn't forwarded a week ago. No wonder it was cold in the house in the morning.

Hi Paweł,

Sorry about that! Are you setting the date in the web version or iOS? If in the web, please try "every month starting 1 may".

We are going to release a new date parser which will recognize a lot more formats in the next few days!

Galina

I'm trying to add annual reminders for a number of major holidays, and I'd like to be able to capture dates like Father's Day and other ones that usually land on the #th weekday of the year. The timing of this release couldn't be more amazing! :-)
