Keep loosing notifications

DC

I keep loosing my notifications. I've re-added them in the android app a few times, and they show up in both the app and on the web for a while, before disappearing again suddenly (all reminders at once).

How am I supposed to trust in a task manager who forgets things?

Well. Clicking all the tasks for editing and then cancelling the editing seem to return the reminders (both in web-app and in the android-app).

But still, my morning time-report reminder did not fire (probably because of this issue), which still isn't acceptable.

And some additional information: Using the settings to test out the push feature works fine, my reminders just keep disappearing (and therefore not pushed to the phone).

Same here. That isn't annoying, that's somehow ridiculous. Notification options aren't too rich at the moment anyway (compared to some competitors) though it's a premium feature (which is somewhat strange for a task manager). Additionally the "premium feature" isn't working. Right now I'm quite sure that I quit being a premium member within the 30-day-period. Actually it's hard to find an additional value.

Hello,

We're very sorry for the inconvenience. This issue should be fixed in the latest version on our app. Please tell me- which versions are you using and when exactly do these reminders disappear? When you edit the task? Id it a shared task and is someone else making changes to it?

Best regards,
David

Well. I updated the android app yesterday or so, so it's 3.0.9. Otherwise I just use the web-app/chrome-app (whatever the differences are).
I _guess_ it happened before I updated to the latest android version, as I have no idea when the reminders are lost. I've noticed the error by chance both times it's happened.
It's all personal tasks, no editing involved (except re-adding some of the reminders in the android app).

I also am at version 3.0.9. Having the same problems like Daniel when using Chrome extension and more;

I added a task using the android widget with due date and time (no shared tasks): After a while the reminder disappeared (it definitely was there immediately after creating the task). And after taking a look at the web-app/website I had to find out that it hadn't even synced! Tried a restart of the phone but still there is no sync Even manual sync isn't working.

I'm sorry guys, but I have to rely on "my" to-do/task manager. And todoist isn't reliable at all right now for me.

Hi David,

due date is today, that's 03.02.2014 and time was 17:45 h. I created the task at about 12.30 or so.

Meanwhile other "test-task" I created afterwards have been synced, but not the one I originally created.

Best
Axel

Axel,

I've passed it to the developers, we'll look into it. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks David.

Again an automatic reminder got lost. Here's what I did:

Added a task via web surface (Chrome) with due date and time and saved it. The automatic reminder was set (little clock appeared). Then I edited the task and added some information in the notes field. I saved it and - reminder was gone.

Don't know quite how to say it but with that performance todoist certainly will not convince me to stay. It's nice to have a great-looking to do list with sync working (nearly) perfect. But with limited reminder and snooze options in general and moreover not working (that is: sometimes working, sometimes not) reminders it doesn't make things easier for me. It's just too important for me NOT to forget about certain tasks.

Axel,

We're very sorry for the inconvenience, we can assure you that normally everything works fine, we've launched big updates significantly changing some of Todoist functionality and although we've tested everything for a long time, some issues did occur and we're fixing them now as we speak.

Best regards,
David

Well. As I get emails for each comment here I'd thought I'd return and give my 2 cents.

Trey: I feels like you have too many "big updates" lately, which now and then break sync or something similar. I'm also beginning to consider to leave todoist and find some other task manager.
So if you want to keep me(/us?) you really need to step up your game. Because if you keep on making mistakes on such basic things like this you will never get the respect you need to make a good task manager.

... and there most of my reminders went the way of the Dodo once again... and they're not popping up again when i click the tasks as last time.
I don't have the time to keep track if my reminders exist or not, that's kinda why I bought premium from you guys, so you could keep track of things for me...

Dear all:

I am having a similar problem. Right now I have two tasks with reminders:

Task #1 is a timed task, happening at 3:00 PM today. I set a reminder for “10 minutes before” as a push notification. It has remained for several hours.

Task #2 only has today’s date, no time. I set a reminder for “today @ 3:30” as a push notification. I’ve had to re-enter this notification 4 or 5 times today, because it keeps disappearing.

These two tasks are in different projects.

I use the web interface for most of my data entry, and then refer to the iCal feed on my iPad calendar or the mobile app on my phone to review tasks and notifications.

I’m new to Todoist, so I just noticed this was happening.

Haven’t been able to reproduce the problem at will, but I do wonder if the fact that one task is timed/dated and the other is only dated has anything to do with it?

Hi Garrett,

Sorry to hear you are having this issue. As I understand, you have added those reminders from the web version of Todoist. Could you please clarify if those tasks are one time or recurring tasks?

Would you please describe how the issue is happening?

- When you set a reminder, it then just disappears and doesn't trigger on the set time? - Does the alarm icon next to the task disappear too?
- Do you do any changes to the tasks or do the reminders just disappear on their own?

Any additional information would be very helpful for us!

Regards,
Galina

Galina:

Thank you for the quick response!

These are one-time tasks — not recurring.

I have not edited these tasks, but I should mention that task #2 (scheduled for today) is actually a sub-task for another task (that is scheduled for tomorrow). The task with the reminder that has not disappeared (task #1) is a first-level task: not a subtask.

And as a clarification, I should mention that task #2 is not a subtask of task #1 — they are different tasks in different projects.

Todoist (web) is one of 4 tabs I leave open on my desktop browser all day. I created these particular tasks previously, but set the reminders this morning. I saw the little clock icons appear, indicating that the reminders had been set.

Maybe 30 minutes later, I happened to glance over at the screen that has the web browser on it, and noticed that the clock icons were gone — for both tasks. I created them again, thinking that perhaps I did something wrong when creating them the first time.

After an unknown period of time (maybe 30 minutes? maybe an hour?) I noticed that the reminder icon for the second task was gone. I confess that I was a little annoyed, but I re-created the notification again.

This happened AGAIN, after another unknown period of time. This is when I did a search in the Todoist forums to see if anyone else was having this problem. I found the thread from 2014, and wrote a reply. Before sending the message I tried to see if I could re-create the problem at-will. I created a dummy task (no reminder — just a task with a date of “tomorrow”) and when I created the task, the reminder in question disappeared AGAIN about 10 seconds later. I thought I might have been on to something, so I re-created the reminder and repeated the dummy task test. This time, the reminder stayed. I then went ahead and sent the message.

As of this moment, the reminder is still there.

Strange, isn’t it?

Hi Garrett,

That's strange indeed. Thanks a lot for the detailed feedback! I have now created a few test tasks with reminders in different projects. The reminders are still there, and I will keep an eye on them.

In the meantime, could you please try clearing the cache for your browser to see if helps? If you are using Chrome, please head to Chrome Settings, Show Advanced, Content Settings, All Cookies & Site Data. Search for Todoist and remove all that is found.

Let us know if the issue still persists after that and how your most recent test reminder is doing.

Very sorry for the inconvenience!

OKAY —

I think I might be on to something here.

MY THEORY: I may have entered the reminder time as “today @ 3:30” the first few times, and then “today @ 3:30 PM” the last time. It looks like Todoist interprets “3:00” as “3:00 AM” — which was very early this morning! I just now tried entering “4:00” as a reminder time: it took it, and then displayed the clock icon indicating that a reminder had been created. I then refreshed the page, and the clock disappeared — which makes sense, because it thinks the reminder time already passed.

I think the error might be mine!

I will be more mindful of including AM/PM designations, and see if that solves my problem.

Oh, it seems to make sense! Thanks for the update. Please try keeping am/pm for your future task reminders to see how it goes. Hopefully, the issue won't occur anymore :-)

Sorry for this trouble!

Galina
