Reminders disappear in shared projects

GH

I noticed that reminders set in recurring tasks for shared projects disappear when the task is checked for completion. After recurrence the task shows that the reminders are not active anymore. I'm using the ..min in advance reminder for this type of task.

Note: I set reminders for several team members (all paid users) and none of the reminders are showing.

Best regards,
Gino

I am experiencing this problem. I have a shared project with my wife, I am a premium user, she isn't. I set recurring tasks with reminders to me, since she is not a paid user and doesn't have the rights to use reminders.

Is there anyone working on this? My reminders on recurrent tasks are disapearing on shared projects. They don't disappear as soon as the task is completed. I don't know when does it happen, probably at midnight.

Some help wil be appreciated.

Hi Marcelo,

Sorry to hear that! We had an issue with iOS reminders which was already fixed. Could you please tell us which type of reminders you are using and give us a few examples of task due dates for which reminders don't trigger?

Regards,
Galina

Hi Galina, thanks for the reply!

I am using todoist web and on Android. A task which has been losing its reminder everyday:

Task: "Take trash out" -> assigned to my wife
When: "Every day @ 22"
Reminder: "0 min before" -> the reminder is set to me, not my wife.

Another example:

Task: "Walk the dog" -> assined to me
When: "Every day @ 19"
Reminder: "30 min before" -> the reminder is set to me, not my wife.

As I said, it is in a shared project between me and my wife. As far as I could see, there is no difference whether the task is assigned to me or to her, the reminder disappears anyway. My wife is not a premium user, but I am.

Thanks for the additional information, Marcelo!

Please let me know which version you are currently running in the web (you can check it under the gear icon) and which version of Android app you are using.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

Galina

On the web, I was using version 320. Now that you told me to check, it said there was a new version, 353, so I clicked it and now that is the one I'm using. If this fixes the problem, I will let you know!

On Android, I am using version 7.1.4 (Android 5.1).

Hello again! I'm sorry to inform that it didn't work. The reminders still disappeared. :-(

What's the next step?

Hello Marcello,

Sorry to hear that :-(

Please tell me, is there any way you can reliably reproduce it? For example, after reinstalling our mobile apps and deleting Todoist's offline data in your browser, what exact steps do you take on which platform to trigger this bug?

Every detail would be very helpful, for example - what are your default reminder settings (0 minutes before, 10 minutes before?), how exactly are you adding such task - are you assigning it while it's created or after it's created, is the reminder the default one or are you adding a new one once the task is created (and assigned, or assigned later)?

David

David,

I'm going to try to reproduce it after uninstalling and then installing the app as suggested. I'll let you know the exact details of how the problem occurred, if it occurs again. Since the reminder disappears not exactly when I check the task as completed, but some when later (a moment which I do not know, but guess might be midnight), I will have to wait until tomorrow to know if I could reproduce the error.

It didn't work. The issue is very general: any reminder placed on any recurrent task of our shared project disappears after completion. It doesn't matter if the reminder is automatic, if it's placed after the creation of the task or on the act of creating it. If you want, I can record a video showing how I am setting up the task and the reminder.

Hi Marcelo,

A video recording would certainly help. That way, we can try replicating the issue using the same exact steps and we can also forward it to our developers. Can you please record it and share it us? Really sorry for the inconvenience!

Hi again!

I found out how to reproduce the error. These are the steps:

1 - Create a recurring task on a shared project, give it a due time.
2 - Insert a reminder to 0 minutes before task.
3 - When the reminder appears, wait for a little more than 10 minutes.
4 - Mark task as completed.

The reminder disappears if the task is completed after its due time by a certain amount of time.

I have now set this test in Chrome following exactly your steps. Just let me know: are you running this test on Android or in Chrome?

Thank you! Our update for Android (Material Design) is almost here. When you update (it will happen... very soon!), please let us know if you can reproduce this issue in the new version.

In the meantime, we will take a look into it. Sorry for the inconvenience!
