Why can't I duplicate projects?

Please, please add this feature. I really want to switch my organization over from Asana to Todoist but not having this functionality is a deal breaker. Importing and exporting a text file is not a substitute and takes much more time. Recurring tasks and the integration with gmail make Todoist better than Assana. Add this functionality and there won't be anything Asana does that Todoist can't...

Hi Angela,

You are asking to duplicate projects, we have that feature. Head to the project, and there is a wrench icon at the top right of the project name. You can export as template from there.

Of course this is a Premium feature. If that is what you are referring to when you say a text file, yes it is but it exports everything to duplicate a project. Let us know exactly what more you would want?

Hello Erik,

Please tell me - how many tasks do you have in the project you want to export? Also, try to download one of the backups (in Settings -> Backups) and let us know if the file associated with this project is also empty.

Best regards,

Hi David, thanks, I backed up, it was 29kb; maybe 100 tasks? Not including completed?

+ 1 for copying tasks or groups of tasks too!

So, to clarify, not it all works and you can export tasks from this project?

Completed tasks are never included within the backup files as they're stored and backed-up on our servers and also, considering that you can view tasks completed from projects that no longer exist, it would be difficult to export them.

Angela, as a user of both Todoist (personal) and Asana (business), I can say that the export/import of Todoist is much faster than the copying of projects in Asana, even though it's a few more clicks. Especially when projects get much larger (I have some with 50+ tasks I regularly duplicate), Todoist is WAY faster than Asana at replicating them.
