Reordering the "today" list.

I used to be able to reorder the "today" list according to my schedule, regardless of priority. This is how I need to use Todoist and it was great!

Now (I think after the upgrade), I can reorder, but as soon as I add another task for "today", it automatically sorts them all by priority, and I have to redo my order. NOT good!

The following topic says that this was completed, but now it seems to have been at least partially uncompleted... http://todoist.com/Vote/showProposal/64/

Can you help??

Thank you!

We're currently fixing this behavior as it should not be possible to reorder tasks with a priority on the today view. It was indeed possible for a while, but caused a lot of issues that couldn't be reproduced.

If you need to maintain a certain task order on the today view, please use due times such as "today at 13:20" and it will affect their display order. Alternatively, you can change the priorities to push some tasks to the bottom of the list.

Hi David,

It definitely SHOULD still be possible to reorder the tasks however you want. I know multiple people who use this strategy to craft their day, but for tasks that there is no specific time for. The color coding of the priorities helps you visualize the breakup of your day. For example, many many times a high-priority task will not have a time, but a no-priority task (like a meeting) will, and that meeting should be above the high-priority task when you look at the layout of your day. Please consider this simple logic as this adjustment has completely ruined the today view for me (and the entire ability for me to use Todoist to run my schedule).

Thank you! - Ross

+1 Ross's feelings.

If I can't reorder my tasks for today manually, I'll stop my Todoist subscription. It's a make-it-or-break-it feature for me.

I bet a significant portion of your user base feels the same way.

+1 here.

I've discussed here: http://todoist.com/Support_Android/showQuestion/583/, but I will repeat - this is not just a nice feature to have. It's necessary, and a complete deal breaker if Todoist has really decided to drop this functionality because the developer couldn't work out the sorting algorithm. There are plenty of developers out here who would be more than willing to assist.

Anyway, please confirm whether this is an official Todoist decision. I will wait before cancelling my premium subscription.

+1. Simple "drag to set order" is what I want.

Maybe there should be a "manual" sort order for those of us who prefer it.

Or you could have the dragging set the time via some sliding timeline when you move the task between two tasks. Like drag a task between meeting that ends at 2:00 and a something else that starts at 4:00 you could give us a timeline to drop it on between 2:00 and 4:00.

On the Android I can drag to set the order, but as soon as I release, it springs back to where it was.

i have the same problem recently and it's very annoying! being able to reorder my daily tasks the way i want to is a very important feature for me (and apparently other people too)! please please bring it back!
i really love todoist, i'm just considering going premium, and i already recommended it to a bunch of people too, really it was the perfect todo app for me, especially now with the sharing features... but ending the reordering possibility could be a huge dealbreaker... you guys have been doing a perfect job, please don't screw it up!!

Yes, this is critical functionality. As of today, I can reorder via in the web UI with drag & drop and the new order is reflected in the Android app. But reordering in the Android app is still broken. Please bring it back.

Yes - not having this functionality is annoying and the only disappointment I have found of using TD Premium online. The browser version could perhaps have "order alphabetically" and "move up" "move down" on projects and tasks. Obviously sub projects and sub tasks should move with the parent project. For fast paced multitaskers this would really help daily productivity.

+1, really annoying when I manually reorder and it keeps reverting.

+1 on the ability to order tasks

Yep, I wanna add a +1 here too. Being able to re-order tasks in today view regardless of priority would be BIG for me. My schedule is very erratic, and sometimes it makes sense to action lower priority tasks before high priority tasks, depending on what's happening in a day. At the moment I'm having to change the priority of tasks constantly so that I can have my todo list in the order I want it, which is very time consuming and more or less undermines the prioritisation feature as every task inevitably gets marked as high priority as to fix this. PLEASE fix this so we can have it back to the way it used to be - the way it should be!

Seems that this still hasn't been fixed. Any update (staff)?

It's not possible to reorder tasks outside their priority groups on the today list. We may consider changing this in the future, though.

I would agree that I should be able to set the order in which tasks display regardless of their time they are due or the priority. I should be able to decide what order I want to do my tasks in. And priority is used differently by different people, so ordering based on that may make sense to some, but not to others. It's also annoying when a task that has a due time set (for the afternoon), hangs out at the top of the list, even though it's one of the last things I need to do for the day. And I really don't want to have to assign times to all of my tasks, because my day is too chaotic.

Come on, Doist team! The feedback is pretty clear on this. We need something better than "may consider changing this in the future".

Yeah, me too. I want to arrange my lists however I want - regardless of time or priority. Make it much easier to plan out my day...

"I'm going to do task A (low priority) while I'm "getting into" my day, then task C (high priority) before my meeting at 11:30am..."

Sounds like most of us want to be able to plan our days this way and drag our task list to reflect this.

I would like to able to rearrange my tasks regardless of time or priority.

Nonetheless, for me today it isn't even possible to rearrange my tasks inside their priority group! Tasks rearrange automatically after a while.

This is most evident with recurring tasks. Say I make cold calls every day at 1pm. Today I had a lunch meeting and I need to make my cold calls after a few more tasks, later in the afternoon. I can't change the time to 4pm to rearrange my tasks, because then Todoist thinks I need to do that task every day at 4pm instead of 1pm. I need to drag and drop it later in my day.

What is the status of this? There are so many threads requesting that we just be able to have a custom 'today' view in which we can drag and drop the order of items and it be saved in that view. This order should be able to be saved regardless of recurring, dates, times, priorities, parent tasks, etc. Some people's days move faster and are more chaotic than others. For those of us in this situation, we need to be able to adjust our overall view of the day's tasks to accommodate such inevitable changes. So, why not just allow for a custom ordering of today/overdue items to be resorted and saved.

Or, is there a work around, possibly a custom filter? (And adding due times is not a viable solution.)

Unfortunately, we're currently not working on an option to reorder today's tasks outside their priority groups right now, but we may consider it in the future.

In the past, such option was available, but was very unreliable so we've disabled it after lots of requests to have the priority order stick in these views, but again - we'll consider looking into this again in the future and see if we can implement a solution that won't break the current sorting while allowing completely custom task order.

Like everyone else, I am constantly reordering tasks in Today to reflect my changing priorities/abilities. It's infuriating to have to fight the Todoist system throughout the day!

This is real poor functionality. Simple to do list: is visual.

The first thing and most important thing is the one on the top

The second most important is the second one from the top.

Please tell me we can reorder

Is there a way to reorder our list

I really want this as well. Although I understand it's hard to have a good default while allowing us to customize this order.
