Excessive memory footprint of Todoist addin for Outlook?

The memory usage of my Outlook process jumps from 50MB to 120MB just from activating TD addin. After one day of usage, memory footprint of the Outlook process is over 500MB.

The number of tasks/projects in my TD is quite small (less than 10 projects, less than 100 tasks) as I just started using it last week.

What is the expected memory footprint of the addin?

Hello Augustin,

Our plugin should certainly not take so much memory. It could add maybe 10-20 MB into Outlook's memory usage, in worst cases maybe more if you really have a lot of data in Todoist. With 10 projects and less than 100 tasks, it shouldn't use 500 MB unless each task contains many very long notes.

Our plugin always uses IE to connect, shares IE's cache and settings so please make sure that you have the latest version of IE installed on your computer and if not - update IE and see if the issue persists.

Also, are you using any other plugins in Outlook? If so - try to disable them and only enable our plugin to see if maybe a combination of our plugin with another plugin is causing this.

Best regards,

Ok, I'll download IE11 just in case (I don't usually bother with IE).
Thanks for the tips!

The only other non-standard plugin in my Outlook is Enterprise Vault, I will monitor it to see if that's the one to blame.

I also am getting huge memory use by ToDoist (>600Mb) - see attached memory usage. I have IE11 and Outlook plugin. I do use 2 Outlook windows, one for email and one for calendar (where the Todoist bar is redundant and causes problems reported previously).

Can anything be done to reduce memory footprint?

Hi Mark,

Really sorry about this! Can you please try the beta version of the Outlook add-in? Does that work better?

Hi Clyde,

Thanks. I’ve downloaded the beta, installed and rebooted my laptop, but the memory doesn’t seem too different.

Should I expect to see 3 Todoist.exe processes for the one application and 4 Helpers for the Outlook add-in?

PS I really like using Todoist so keep on making it better!

I have now passed this to our developer so he can look into further. We'll update you once we have any news regarding this. So sorry for the inconvenience!
