Todoist Offline

When I am offline and I open Todoist after starting the computer, it tries to get a connection with the Website and does not open the infopage.
If TODOIST is already open, and I go offline then, it works fine.

How can I fix this.

Hello Susanne,

Unfortunately, that's how the HTML5 offline mode works - if you lose your connection with Todoist opened, you can continue working with it, if you're offline as you launch it, it won't work in most cases.

Our new Windows app (the update will be published soon) will launch offline, our mobile apps do too, but on other platforms, Todoist needs to connect first.

I would not say anytime soon, but if HTML5 improves, then we do hope to improve it as well.

Has there been any progress on this? It seems that the Android and iOS apps can both be started when offline, so it is puzzling, to someone who knows nothing about HTML5, why this is not possible in the OS-X version.

Hi Roger,

We support offline in our Mac app as well. You just need to connect to the internet once. Just make sure you're running the latest version of our Mac app. :-)

What do you mean with "connect to the internet once"?

I connected many times before. But today, as we had a network shutdown from our net provider, I had to wait nearly one minute until the app on mac os opened in offline-mode.

Hello Patrick,

Connecting once is required so that you can log in. Once you're logged in and never manually log out, you'll be able to use the app without a connection.

It shouldn't take a whole minute before it would launch offline, though, was the network outage a "full" outage as in - there was no connection at all, or was it a disruption so there was a local connection, but not outside to the internet (so that the app might have seen you as being online and tried to connect rather than give up instantly seeing your computer being completely offline?

Hi David

I had connection to the router but not to the internet. And that was already the case when starting Todoist.

The attached screen is what I saw for about one minute.

Hi Patrick,

Are you using the Mac App Store version or the direct download version? I just did a quick test by quitting the Mac app and turning off wifi and the app just launched fine. Can you maybe try doing the same test and see if you still get the same behavior?

When I open Todoist (Mac/Postbox version) I always get asked whether I
want to change my timezone to Europe/London. If change my Timezone, then
the time is set incorrectly, so I have to answer No/Cancel each time I
open Todoist. Maybe it is an OSX issue, but I encounter it with no other
software. My timezone is set at London/England. Or is it a very minor
Todoist issue? It is as if Todoist thinks London is in the same time
zone as Paris etc, whereas it is not.

Hi Roger,

All of your timezone must be set the same way in all of your devices. Please double check all your devices and change the timezone it if necessary. Let me know how it goes.
