Can you have multiple gmail accounts on one Todoist account?
I have a personal gmail account and a work email. When I am at work I am using my work email, but still want access to my list of tasks under my work project. Is there a way to attach 2 accounts to Todoist?
Unfortunately, it's not possible to use multiple email addresses with Todoist, however if you're referring to the "Add email as task" feature which you would like to use with different accounts - that is actually possible.
To do so, you'll have to install one of our browser plugins (not the GMail plugin) and to make it easier, log in through the web, go to Settings -> Account and edit the password which will set a password to your Todoist account for manual login.
Now, you'll be able to type in your email/password combination to log into Todoist not using the GMail Login and add emails as tasks from any Gmail account. The only "restriction" is that if you click on a link to an email that's on your private account, this link will not work if you're logged into your work Gmail account.
I have this very same need. Unfortunately, David, I don't understand the procedure. I would need a step by step, because I have no idea what log in you are referring to. Thanks, Best, Tom
In my reply I assumed that you use Todoist with Gmail and you're logging in using the "Login with Google Account" option. In that case, your Todoist account doesn't have a password because we don;t have or store your Gmail password.
This also means that whenever you're logged into Gmail, Todoist would try to use the logged in email address to access the related account, but if you want to use Todoist with multiple GMail account, that wouldn't work because it would log you into a different Todoist account each time.
Therefore, if you're logging into Todoist using the Google Account login method you have to:
- Click on the gear icon in the top-right corner (in Todoist)
- Go to Settings -> Account
- Click on the "Edit" link in the "Password" section
- Type in a password.
From now on, your Todoist account will have a password which will allow you to log in manually, not using the "Login with Google" option, but instead - type in your email and the newly set password to log into Todoist.
This way, your Todoist account will not be dependent on whether you're logged into Gmail or not and therefore, you can log into Todoist while using any Gmail account.
please work on allowing users to have two email accounts to send tasks from. most other similar apps have this function, e.g. evernote.
You can send tasks via email to Todoist using as many email addresses as you want. To do so, please right-click on a project, go to "Email tasks to this project" and you'll see an input field at the bottom of this window allowing you to authorize one more additional email addresses.
You can also use wildcards to authorize entire domains by typing @gmail.com or @yahoo.com for example.
Honestly, it's pretty simple -- add more email accounts (multi-account support). All of these "multi-click-yet-useless" approaches that are being mentioned here don't even come close to solving the problems that these customers are highlighting. Please, "listen" to the requests that are coming in here from your valued customers and stop trying to explain to them ways they can come "some what close but not really" to what they're asking for.
What I'd like to know is, "Is this on your roadmap?" and if so, "When/what release is it targeted for?".
Here's my use cases for why I too want this feature:
I have personal tasks. I have tasks for company A that I work for, and tasks for company B that I own. For my personal tasks I typically would collaborate (if I could) with those people in my family, and maybe some friends. With company A, where email accounts are very restrictive, I'd like to create projects (using my corporate email not my personal) that I can share with internal employees of the same domain. I'd like for them to be able to login to todoist with their corporate credentials and be able to collaborate with me in this context. Similarly, I'd like to do the same with company B and use my company B email address and collaborate with others on that domain.
I'd like to keep it all in nice, neat, organized, compartments. Which is what everyone is asking for here, and, frankly, many other tools are already doing.
We are giving solutions to help people accomplish what they want as much as possible. We are not giving them as a reason for not having the requested feature.
Are we currently planning multi-sign in email options, no. Are we ever going too? Yes it's very possible but we do not have an ETA when this will happen. It could be awhile, it could be fairly soon.
