Using Task Clone with Evernote and ToDoist
I have set up task clone to use with Evernote and ToDoist. It appears that task clone is working fine with Evernote. But the tasks are not being imported into my Project (ToDoist). I have even tried to send myself a test email with the email address associated with the Project...no luck. What am i doing wrong? I am a premium user of ToDoist. HELP
Within the settings for Emailing Projects (right click Project, Email Tasks To This Project) make sure the email address that is sending the emails are on the accepted list.
Yes the primary issues Todoist users have with TaskClone are:
- Ensuring the email they use with TaskClone is the same one registered with Todoist
- Inputting the email as My Project<firstname.lastname@example.org>; instead of email@example.com
Brendon, does it matter which formatting from Todoist's perspective?
There doesn't have to be any correlation between your Todoist email and the email address that sends out the message into your project. As Brendon said, you can add the email address from which you expect to receive the email to the list of accepted addresses in the "Email tasks to this project" window at the bottom.
As for the email address format - please clarify what you mean, you can use "My Project<firstname.lastname@example.org>"; within an email client and is should probably understand this format and fetch the raw email address from it, but if you use other software that asks you to enter an email address, it's recommended to use just email@example.com Todoist itself doesn't require any projects names within the address, the name is just FYI so that your email client can remember it and you can add it to your contact by name.
David, I too am having trouble using the Todoist email system to work with TaskClone. I have copied the email systax - ie Personal <firstname.lastname@example.org>;
but nothing comes in to my personal project inbox nor anywhere else in any Todoist project list.
It does work with RTM but as you know I am a big Todoist fan ...
First, make sure that the email from which you want to send tasks into Todoist is added to the list of accepted addresses at the bottom of the "Email tasks to this project" list (you can add wildcard domains there too).
If it is, then make sure that you're not including the project name and the brackets <> in the address and only use email@example.com as the address.
Finally, try to send an email to this address through your regular email address and let me know if the issue persists.
I think I have got there. Stripping out the name of the project and the <>
seems to have done the trick. Earlier attempts were not showing up in Gmail
sent folder but stripping out those elements seem to have resolved the
Many thanks for fast and superlative support at usual.
Thanks David. We have added this information in the TaskClone Support Center
