Offline use of app on Mac fails

I have the standalone app installed on my Macbook. I have it open all day at work, adding and completing tasks. I shutdown at the end of the day and then on the train home start up again. The ToDoist app gives a message like 'must have been connected to the internet once before working off-line' (wording from memory). But the app has been connected all day!

This has happened a few times now.

I did search for existing entries about this before I posted but now I see that this may be a certificate issue. I have had the error since 16th October when I believe the certificate was supposed to be fixed. Will see what happens.

I don't *think* that this is a certificate issue; Todoist can be off-line, but *only* if you first have a connection to the Todoist server, then go off-line. You can then work as long as you like; the changes should be buffered until you go back on-line and the Mac reconnects to the Todoist server, at which time the changes will be synced.

From your description, it sounds as if you restarted the Mac while off-line; that won't work.

Thanks Randy. Yes I did restart the Mac while off-line.

I would not describe this as off-line functionality in that case. I'm expecting the Mac app to work in the same way as the Android app works on my tablet; cached entries with off-line working buffered until a connection available at which point everything syncs.
