Unfortunately, there's currently no interaction with Todoist and Google Tasks. You can use Todoist as an alternative to Google Tasks thanks to our variety of browser plugins and Gmail integration, but you can't transfer or interact with the tasks in Google's own "Tasks" feature.

Hello Bruce,

The Google Sign-up option allows you to quickly log in on all your devices without having to create and remember another email/password combination for Todoist.

Please try one of our browser plugins to see how much better using Todoist as an alternative to Google Tasks is :)

Can I do a one time load of Todoist with my google tasks so that I don't need to reenter all of them? I'd give Todoist a try if I could do this first.

Very Disappointed, your premium offers full sync across platforms, sync does not mean add on!! ie it only syncs itself across hardware...paid for premium please arrange refund.

Hello Tristram,

We're sorry to hear that. We never advertise any options to sync any data with Google Tasks and unfortunately, due to the lack of many features that Todoist has, but Google Tasks doesn't, it may be near-impossible to implement full synchronization between these two (a lot of data - projects, sub-task levels, labels etc. would be lost in the process).

If you wish to receive a refund, please send us the order reference ID of your payment.

To me, without Todoist Tasks appearing in my Google Calendar, Todoist is completely useless. I don't want to have multiple apps to see what I have to work on today and what meetings I have scheduled today.

Sorry, but useless.

You *can* sync Todoist with your Google Calendar, but the Google calendar only 'refreshes' once every twenty-four hours (this is a Google Calendar issue, not a Todoist issue).

This thread concerns the inability of Todoist to sync with Google Tasks, not Google Calendar.

I would like to add support for todoist here. Whether they choose or choose not to add this is up to them. They have much, much more to bring to the table than google here. Google has left this are wide open for years as has EVERY WINDOWS VENDOR.
Only Mac and IOS have had the overly priced but beautiful software from Omnifolks, but we can live in the Apple bubble forever, or want to.
So, cheers to Todoist. When I saw it, on every platform but the ones that suck, I about lost it.
Do google tasks or don't. Believe me I've tried to use Google Tasks. I do EVERYTHING google, but Google hasn't even done tasks seriously.

Todoist has, if you give them the reasonably priced chance to prove it to you, the first real chance to try a GTD methodology. My single quibble is the inability to change a task to a project, and perhaps to search for an contextless task.

Wow what an emotional thread ;) Switching between two task management systems is not so hard, and it's a great opportunity to review your whole todo list. Keeping your "stuff" in one reliable system is an important concept of GTD, so I'd just recommend trying both systems for some time and *deciding* which one you like better and want to use, let go sync.

What's the point in having two task management systems? You obviously haven't very many tasks. That's like having two email clients on your phone and the same accounts on both, and reading/replying to them using both. Would you call that efficient? I wouldn't.

I don't need to review my todo list, I know what's on it, I just need to get through them ASAP.

i get no "sync" feature as google tasks lacks features, but why no import? i think what everyone is saying here is that they want to upgrade to todoist from google tasks for added functionality, but it requires starting over! one time import seems a must!

in my humble option an option to import/export from/to google tasks which was able to map just the most important data structures (todo items, dates, categories) and ignore the rest would be enough to attract a significant number of new potential users. think about it.

+1 this is an important feature for google-centric people (and there are plenty of). Lots of less evolved (and probably lesser funded as well) apps are able to do it, so I'd expect TD to be able to.

Yes, there may be issues with data loss when syncing, but at least start with importing and exporting to/from GTasks and I'm pretty sure you're going to figure out an intelligent way to implement syncing as well.

In the beginning of this year, I have written in this thread that Todoist is useless for me without Google Tasks synch. I was wrong. We are now using Todoist in my startup and I use it personally. It is Google Tasks which is broken and lack significant functionality. Sorry, Todoist team, you are doing a great job. You just have to move the link to review past done tasks away from the Karma menu. It really makes no sense there.

Hi All, I'm back to let you know that I've recently discovered this

It has a lovely clean UI, a browser & android app, and will import your lists/tasks from Google

N.B - The sync button updates lists across devises. It doesn't sync back to Google

But the fact that you can even import is a huge advantage imo

Sorry Todoist - but folks have been asking for Google integration for ages, and you've not taken action :/

Hi All,

I use to use Gtasks but always felt it didn't do what I needed it to do. Since I moved to Todoist (and after testing quite a few other systems) I've come to realise what a real to-do app is and how it should behave!

I agree with previous comment stating that Google did'nt to tasks properly.

However if you really need your tasks in Gtasks, use ToDoist in combination with Zapier or IFTTT. They can provide one way sync. Not ideal but it might help.

Thanks ToDoist, you're doing a great job !

I have read through this thread and am stunned by the absence of todoist comments since at least one year. A "premium" service that allows labelling but does not deliver sync does not look so premium to me and guess what I will not spend any further time to key my projects in other than TestOne and TestTwo without a commitment to deliver gtasks sync, at least.

Hi Guys.
I like todoist and I have paid for your premium version.
As I improve in organizing myself, I cannot allow a task list apart from my calendar planning. You need one view so you can dedicate when you execute your tasks among meetings etc. I strongly recommend that you focus on google calendar integration. It would add tremendous value. Although I love the easiness of your product, I cannot continue using it without google calendar sync. I just doesn't help to organize well enough. Thank you for the effort so far guys!

Yikes, I can't do Todoist, as great as it is, without *simple* integration with Google Tasks on my Google Calendar. I would pay for that.

It worries me that no Todoist staff person has responded to this huge thread, or am I mistaken?

I agree with what Michael Köhler replied on Jul 16, 2014:

I was initially excited about Todoist because of all the great reviews it had but I have found that it's really not all that fantastic. It doesn't fully integrate with Google, which has become a "one-stop-shop" for me. No "tasks" synchronization, etc. just means I have to go more places to do stuff. Extra bells and whistles vs. being quick and efficient? Quick and efficient wins every time. This just reaffirms my belief that I should stick with all things Google. Their products work and they all talk to one another. Imagine my surprise the first time Waze automatically tried to navigate me to an appointment sent to it by my Google Calendar! It was GREAT. Good bye, Todoist.

Reading through this thread, it seems as thought it's a pretty common desire to sync Todoist with Google Tasks (I want to be able to do this too, which led me here). Is there a way to request this feature to put on the product roadmap? The Google Tasks API is open and should be pretty straight forward to implement.

My guess is that if it can sync with Google Tasks, they are worried they will lose business. They say GT doesn't have the same features has Todoist, but that is bull when it comes to the basics. Even GT does subtasks, reminders, and time. Even if it isn't exact, it would still be nice to sync. I am trying the premium out, but since it doesn't integrate with Google Tasks, I won't be paying for the year of premium. Sad that they want to hold a monopoly on your tasks.

Replied on Oct 05, 2015 - 13:40 UTC

It seems crazy that they are seemingly denying themselves all the new business they'd almost certainly benefit from if they just let users do what they want to do. In the absence of Todoist definitively saying they technically can't use the Google Tasks API, you have to wonder how much sense they have :-/

I'd jump at the chance to use Todoist with GTasks, even in a limited way (+1)

For the people on this thread who are still dissatisifed - can you elaborate on the use-case for a full 'sync' between Google Tasks and Todoist?

I don't mean a simple import from Google Tasks - that's already been covered in this thread - but why would you want to maintain an ongoing sync (presumably two-way) from one task manager to another? What do you get that Todoist alone wouldn't give you?

The problem is that if Todoist synced with Gtasks, none of the premium features would be worth paying for. Gtasks already does most of them for free.
