Todoist - share a task
I am not looking for the features of wedoist but I would like to share tasks. Is there any way to share a task with another user?
Unfortunately not at this time, though we are currently working on this feature internally and are going to release it hopefully soon.
This is kind of essential in task manager isn't it? Please add.
Yes, this would really be helpful.
I emailed myself a website to pass on to a friend. I thought I would be able to share it or at least email it back out. Some time of sharing feature would be great!
he is absolutely right. Also, it would be nice to have PENDING status option for a task that hasn't been completed yet so that you can come baack and finish it later
Is this still in the works? I looked at a thread on the Wedoist website and it stated a timeline to have the Todoist sharing completed by the end of this year (2013)... this would be great if this is still the target... Can we confirm this?
Yes, it's almost done and we will have an update soon. We just do not have an ETA to confirm, but it'd being tested now.
Excellent stuff! Looking forward to it!
Is it going to be announced through Blog or Twitter something?
how about a PENDING status for tasks that are not fully completed yet?
To mark a task as "pending", simply type @pending within its name. This will add a label and also allow you to click on it and view all pending tasks at once.
I can't wait to see this new functionality.
Just signed up today, and this would be a great addition.
+1, looking forward to this one. This is good for todoist too, would make it more viral.
+1. That would be a great added feature for Todoist. My wife and I use Todoist and I wish we could share some of the tasks that affect each other (like grocery lists, etc).
+ 1 !
YES THIS IS A CRITICAL FEATURE. I don't like wunderlist very much, but without sharing tasks I'm forced to use it, even though I'm a premium todoist member
Need a beta tester? Really want to try this. ;)
+1 I'm going premium onde the trial Month ends. If you get this on, my staff will get premium accounts to support our projects. Solid work on this application!
Finally it's here. Now to try it.
Where is it?
Right click a project, and choose Share. Then when editing or creating tasks within that project, there will be an assign option to share with people.
You can find the options within each project on the mobile side.
Brendon. I just wanted to share single tasks, not a project. Is there a way to do this?
At the moment, you have to share the Project first to then share a task. We will consider changing this in future update.s
+1 Sharing just tasks would be a great added feature for Todoist. Being able to share individual tasks would be very beneficial to our workflow. Not everyone needs to be eyes on for the whole project so being able to share individual tasks would be great!
Julie, this is already implemented, but it seems that it's not that well documented.
There's a video on the front page: http://todoist.com/
In short, as Brendon said above, you need to share the project first and then the task can be assigned.
Does that help?
I would like to just share the task and not share the whole project. From what I watched and have read that is not possible yet.
Hello Julie, you are absolutely correct! I also misunderstood this, but have found several ways to work around it, and am very pleased as it is now. You could for instance make a project with the shared tasks, share a subproject og whatever. If you need a good, clean way to get overview of out of place tasks, you can always use the labels/tags. That being said, I do hope they let us share solo tasks out of context, at some point.
Love the sharing feature BUT as others have mentioned, I want the option of sharing a single task and NOT the entire project. I have the situation where i have a handful of tasks scattered in different projects that i want to share with the one person, but the only way to do this at the moment (as far as i can see) is give them the entire project folder. Apaert from not being the way I intend it to work, it clutters up their todoist with many irrelevant tasks.
Please fix Mr Todoist
