How long will my tasks be archived?

M

1. As I am archiving all my projects once finished but checking some old tasks from time to time, I need to know how long they will be archived?
2. And do you save all the information of archived tasks just like the due date and the notes?
3. Is the space of the archive limited as well just like the active space?

Thank you for the answer and keep up the good work!
Todoist definitely changed my life :)

Hello Philipp,

1. We never delete your data, it's stored for you forever unless you choose to completely delete your account in which case everything is permanently deleted.

2. Yes, if you archive a project that has still active tasks, their due dates will remain.

3. No, the limitation only affects active tasks and projects, you can archive as many projects as you want and they will no longer count towards the limit and you can have as many archived projects as you want.

Hey, thanks for the answers! Thats good to hear!
I just realised that I forgot to ask whether the completed tasks of an archived project are archived just like the still active tasks?
Because I like to see which tasks are completed long after a project is finished. Its almost like a diary or a log book.

thanks again

Philipp,

Yes. You can access them either by unarchiving the project and then using the circular icon in the bottom-right corner or directly through the "View Complete Tasks" section (Karma score in the top-right corner) where all completion events of all tasks are being logged.

Hey David,
I got a question regarding the backup: it seems like the backup doesn't take into account finished tasks of active projects and it doesn't include archived projects at all.
Is there a way to backup everything I have ever done? Like a total backup onto my hard drive?

Thanks for the answer in advance!

Hello Philipp,

Unfortunately that's not possible right now, but we may consider adding such option in the future.

Hey thanks for the quick reply!
You guys are really fast!

So the only way to make a total backup would be to unarchive every
project and untick every task. Mhh quite tedious :)
Please implement a more convenient method! I would even pay a
couple of bucks more per year! Hopefully I am not the only person
who needs a feature like this

Kind regards
Philipp

Philipp,

For active data, you would have to unarchive all projects and create a backup, but for completed tasks, currently the "best" solution would be to get a "print to PDF" plugin for your browser, go to Karma -> View All, select "Any time" (to see all completed tasks) and print this list. The plugin would let you save it as a PDF document.

This wouldn't include notes of completed tasks, though. We are planning to add detailed reporting options in the future which will most likely also include an option to export data easier.

Hey David,
thanks for the tipp with the PDF, I will try it later.
What I did try already was the
1. unarchive all archived projects
2. and then make a backup

It appears that the once archived projects do not appear in the backup folder I downloaded (even after creating a brand new backup). This should normally work right?

Thanks Philipp

Philipp,

Yes, it should work and I've checked it myself now and it worked for me. Please make sure that you really got the latest manually created backup. Also, did you wait for the backup to generate or closed the page and returned later? And do you have more than 200 projects after unarchiving everything?

David

Hey David,
I just created a PDF with all my finished tasks (200 pages!)
and it works perfectly! Way better than the normal back up function!
Thanks for the advice!

Kind regards
